No. The Disney–YouTube TV blackout ended on November 14, 2025, when the companies announced a multiyear distribution agreement. ABC, ESPN and other Disney-owned channels returned to YouTube TV. The dispute is over, though it illustrated how a disagreement between a streaming service and a major programmer can interrupt access to live TV.

When the blackout began and ended

Disney warned on October 23, 2025, that its networks could leave YouTube TV if the companies did not reach a new distribution agreement. Their existing agreement expired around October 30, and Disney programming then disappeared from YouTube TV. The blackout lasted more than two weeks. On November 14, the companies announced a multiyear deal and began restoring the channels. Axios reported the warning; ESPN covered the blackout and its resolution.

YouTube TV said channels and eligible recordings would return during the day. The companies announced restoration, but that does not establish that every recording returned identically for every account. YouTube’s update and Disney’s agreement announcement describe the settlement.

Which channels were affected

The dispute affected Disney-owned national networks and, depending on location, local ABC stations. Commonly reported channels included ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Freeform, FX, FXX, FX Movie Channel and National Geographic, along with related feeds and other Disney-owned services. The exact local ABC availability depended on the subscriber’s market; the list should not be read as a guarantee that every subscriber lost every channel. YouTube TV’s support notice addressed the affected programming.

  • Watch This is Us, Empire, The Voice, plus get exclusive past seasons of Seinfeld, South Park, The Golden Girls, and more. Stream originals like the Emmy Award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale, get new movies all the time, and plenty of stuff for the kids—including every season of Curious George

  • No returns and no refunds on gift cards

For viewers, the practical impact was loss of live ESPN sports and other Disney programming within YouTube TV, plus possible disruption to scheduled or saved recordings. The blackout did not remove Disney programming from every service: Disney continued distributing content through its own products, and YouTube pointed viewers to outlets such as the ABC News YouTube channel during the dispute. YouTube’s response explained that alternative access.

Why Disney and YouTube TV disagreed

The dispute centered on the terms for carrying Disney programming. The companies offered competing accounts, neither of which should be treated as an independently established finding.

  • YouTube TV’s position: It said Disney’s requested terms would raise costs for subscribers and limit the service’s flexibility.
  • Disney’s position: It said YouTube TV was not offering fair compensation for its programming and was using its market position in ways that could weaken competition.

The Associated Press reported the companies’ positions. The public deal announcements did not disclose the wholesale rates or all commercial terms, so they do not establish how much either company paid or whether this agreement alone changed subscribers’ bills.

What the agreement gave subscribers

The multiyear agreement restored Disney’s network portfolio, including ABC and ESPN, and provided YouTube TV subscribers access to ESPN’s direct-to-consumer ESPN Unlimited plan at no additional cost under the agreement, according to Disney’s announcement. The precise app experience and account setup may depend on implementation; access to a direct-to-consumer service is not necessarily the same thing as a linear channel appearing in the YouTube TV guide.

YouTube TV also said affected channels and eligible recordings would return. Because the companies did not promise publicly that every individual recording would be restored in the same way, subscribers with a particular missing program should check their library and account rather than assume every recording was recovered.

What happened to the $20 credit

During the dispute, YouTube TV offered eligible subscribers a one-time $20 credit if the blackout continued for an extended period. Its support notice set December 9, 2025, as the claim deadline. That date has passed; the historical offer is not evidence that subscribers can claim a credit now. Check YouTube TV’s support notice for the original terms.

Should you switch services now?

There is no need to switch solely to restore Disney channels because of this resolved blackout. If you are weighing other options, compare the service you would actually use: a full live-TV replacement, a Disney-focused bundle or an antenna for local broadcasts. Prices below are U.S. figures displayed on official pages on August 18, 2026; they can change, and promotional prices have eligibility and time limits.

Stay with YouTube TV

The main plan was listed at $82.99 per month after promotion, with a new-user offer of $67.99 per month for the first three months. YouTube TV described the plan as having more than 100 channels, unlimited DVR, up to six household accounts and three simultaneous streams. Its Sports Plan was listed at $64.99 per month, with a new-user promotion of $54.99 per month for 12 months, shown as ending August 26, 2026. The Sports Plan is not the same as the full general-entertainment lineup. See YouTube TV’s plan page and its comparison page for current terms.

Consider Hulu + Live TV

Hulu listed its ad-supported Live TV package with Disney+ and ESPN Select at $89.99 per month and a premium version at $99.99. It advertises more than 100 live channels and unlimited DVR; ABC availability depends on location. Hulu says additional ESPN Unlimited content is available through the ESPN app under the relevant plan, so not every ESPN feature necessarily appears in one app. Local lineups vary by ZIP code, and event or regional blackouts may still apply. Check Hulu’s current Live TV page before subscribing.

Choose a Disney, Hulu and ESPN bundle if you do not need full live TV

Hulu’s welcome page showed a Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited bundle with ads at $35.99 per month, as well as lower-priced Disney+/Hulu bundles. These are not full replacements for YouTube TV: they may not provide local broadcast stations or the broad mix of non-Disney cable channels, and using separate apps or linking accounts may be required. See Hulu’s bundle page and ESPN’s bundle information for current availability and terms.

Use an antenna for local broadcasts

An antenna may help if your main need is local ABC or other over-the-air broadcasts, but reception depends on location, terrain and equipment. Check which stations are available at your address before buying one. An antenna does not replace ESPN or cable networks.

What the dispute means for live-TV viewers

The resolution restored the channels, but it did not eliminate the underlying dependency: live-TV streaming services still need distribution agreements with programmers to carry their networks. A future negotiation is not proof that another blackout is imminent. For subscribers, the useful distinction is between a carriage agreement—which puts channels inside a live-TV service—and a direct streaming subscription, which may carry some of the same programming but does not automatically replace the service’s full lineup, local stations or guide.
