The Black Friday headline was real, but the price was easy to misread: in 2024, eligible U.S. Amazon Prime members could get Discovery+ with ads through Prime Video Channels for $1.25 a month for up to two months—$2.50 total before tax. The offer ended December 2, 2024, and is not a currently verified deal.

Prime Video Channels was an add-on, not a Prime benefit
Prime membership gave eligible customers access to the channel marketplace; it did not include Discovery+ at no extra charge. Discovery+ was a separate paid subscription billed through Amazon. Discovery+’s official instructions for subscriptions through Prime Video Channels explain the Amazon channel relationship.
That billing route matters. A subscription started through Amazon is managed through Amazon, rather than automatically becoming a direct subscription at DiscoveryPlus.com. If you already paid for Discovery+ directly, signing up again through a channel offer could create two bills. Check the billing provider for any existing subscription before starting another one.

What you could watch—and what the offer did not promise
Discovery+ is known for lifestyle, reality, food, home, travel, nature and documentary programming. The 2024 coverage cited titles including 90 Day Fiancé, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and How the Universe Works. Those examples do not guarantee that every title—or every Discovery-branded program—is available at a given time. Catalogs can change with date, region and licensing.
The discounted tier was ad-supported. Anyone who needs ad-free viewing would have had to confirm that a separate ad-free offer was available and check its price; the $1.25 promotion should not be read as covering all plans.
What happened after the two discounted months
The subscription was set to continue at the then-current monthly rate unless canceled. Discovery+ says promotional subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current rate after the promotion unless the subscriber cancels; see its promotional subscription guidance. For an Amazon channel subscription, rely on the renewal price and next billing date shown in Amazon’s checkout and account pages rather than assuming the direct Discovery+ rate applies.
For context, Discovery+ announced that its direct-billed ad-supported plan would rise to $5.99 per month for applicable renewals on or after February 7, 2025. The company noted that third-party billing providers, including Amazon, could communicate their own prices. That historical direct-billing figure does not establish Amazon’s current channel price. - Sign in to the Amazon account used to subscribe.
- Open the account’s Prime Video Channels or subscriptions management controls and select Discovery+.
- Choose the cancellation option shown for that subscription.
- Check the displayed end date and save the cancellation confirmation.
Amazon’s labels and menus can change. The important distinction is the billing provider: cancel an Amazon-billed channel subscription through Amazon; cancel a direct or app-store subscription through the provider that bills you. Deleting the viewing app does not itself cancel a subscription. Confirm the end date shown in your account instead of assuming cancellation immediately ends access or guarantees access through a particular date.
Could existing Discovery+ subscribers qualify?
The available terms do not establish eligibility for every existing subscriber. The offer was presented as a Prime Video Channels promotion, and eligibility may have depended on the account’s previous Amazon channel history. A direct Discovery+ subscriber should check Amazon’s eligibility message before confirming and account for the risk of duplicate billing.
Is there a current version of this deal?
No live equivalent is verified here. The documented promotion ran in 2024 and ended December 2 of that year; it should not be treated as available now. Amazon and streaming services may run new promotions, but any future offer needs to be checked on the live Prime Video Channels page for its dates, plan, account eligibility, renewal amount and cancellation terms.
