The claim refers to August 17–23, 2026. As of August 18, Disney’s Canadian page lists monthly prices of $8.99 for Standard With Ads, $15.99 for Standard and $16.99 for Premium. It does not show a new Canadian price schedule or an effective date. Check your account and billing notice before treating a higher charge as confirmed.
Disney+ Canada’s listed prices
Disney’s Canadian subscription page currently shows these direct-billing prices. They are listed in Canadian dollars; your own amount may differ if you subscribe through another provider or have a promotion or bundle.
| Plan | Monthly price | Annual price | Listed features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard With Ads | $8.99 CAD | Not shown | Up to 1080p Full HD, 5.1 audio and two concurrent streams; downloads unavailable |
| Standard | $15.99 CAD | $159.99 CAD | Up to 1080p Full HD, 5.1 audio and two concurrent streams |
| Premium | $16.99 CAD | $169.99 CAD | Up to 4K UHD/HDR, Dolby Atmos and four concurrent streams |
Disney says annual Standard and Premium subscriptions save more than 15% compared with paying the respective monthly rate for 12 months. That comparison assumes you keep the subscription for the full year. The plan details and prices are on Disney+ Canada’s subscription page.
What is—and is not—confirmed about an increase
The current listing confirms the prices Disney displays, not that they are newly raised. No dated Canadian notice establishing a price increase during August 17–23, 2026, or specifying new Canadian prices, is available here. A post saying an increase starts “this week” is not enough to confirm that it applies to Canadian subscribers.

A different amount can have other explanations: a U.S. price story circulating in Canada, a promotional rate ending, a bundle’s renewal terms, tax treatment, a plan change, or billing through a third party. Disney says pricing can vary by plan and that billing partners may have different prices because of platform or country-specific limitations. See Disney’s pricing help page.
To establish a change, look for a notice from Disney or the company that bills you that names the affected plan, Canadian price and applicable date. If an email or account notice gives those details, use that account-specific notice rather than assuming the website’s list price applies to your subscription.

How to check your next charge
- Open your Disney+ account settings and note the exact plan name shown there.
- Find the subscription or billing section and identify who handles payment: Disney, Apple, Google Play, Roku, a telecom or cable provider, or another partner.
- Check the next payment date and the amount displayed for the renewal. Compare it with your last receipt and any promotion or bundle terms.
- Check the email address on the account for a price-change or renewal notice, including messages from the billing partner.
- If the displayed amount is unclear, contact the company named on your receipt before changing or cancelling the subscription.
The announcement date, any effective date and your own billing date are different things. A monthly subscriber should rely on the notice and renewal amount for their account; an annual subscriber should check the next renewal rather than assume a change will appear immediately. Timing and treatment can depend on the plan and billing provider.
What changes when you switch plans?

- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
- Standard With Ads: the lowest listed monthly price, two concurrent streams and no downloads. It may not suit viewers who need offline viewing or want to avoid ads.
- Standard: two concurrent streams and up to 1080p Full HD, without the Premium tier’s listed 4K UHD/HDR and Dolby Atmos features.
- Premium: up to 4K UHD/HDR, Dolby Atmos and four concurrent streams. Disney notes that plans may include program promotions and limited live programming may contain ads, so do not assume every moment is ad-free.
Before switching, check the account’s confirmation screen and terms. The start date for a new tier, next charge, treatment of an annual subscription, any refund and the effect on a promotion can depend on the account and billing channel. Do not assume a downgrade saves money immediately or preserves a discounted rate.
Decide whether to keep, downgrade or cancel
- Keep Premium if your household uses 4K/HDR, Dolby Atmos or more than two simultaneous streams.
- Consider Standard if you want to avoid ads but do not need the higher resolution, audio features or four streams.
- Consider Standard With Ads if reducing the monthly cost matters most and you can live without downloads and with ads.
- Cancel or rotate subscriptions if you only watch occasional releases. Check the renewal deadline and any bundle or promotion before cancelling.
- Choose annual billing only if you expect to keep the service for the year. The listed saving relies on paying for a full year rather than 12 monthly payments.
For subscribers comparing services, confirm current Canadian prices and included features directly with each provider before switching. A lower headline price is not necessarily a like-for-like comparison if ads, bundles, rentals or paid add-ons differ.

Why your bill may not match Disney’s listed price
The prices above are the direct-billing prices shown on Disney’s Canadian page. Apple, Google Play, Roku, telecom and cable providers, and bundle partners may set different billing arrangements or renewal terms. A bundle may also have its own price rather than the standalone plan price. Check the name of the billing company on your receipt and use its notice and account page to verify what will be charged.
Recent Canadian coverage of Disney+’s August programming lists the same subscription prices but does not establish a Canadian price increase: MobileSyrup’s August 2026 Disney+ Canada guide. That is useful context, not a substitute for a dated billing notice.
