There is no verified public breakdown of how David Foster spends his money. Celebrity Net Worth estimates his net worth at $150 million, but says its figures are estimates unless otherwise indicated; Foster has not publicly documented that amount in a balance sheet. The available record offers career context and a handful of dated property reports—not a picture of his current budget, assets or personal spending.
What the $150 million estimate tells us—and what it doesn’t
Celebrity Net Worth lists Foster’s net worth as $150 million. That is the publisher’s estimate, not a confirmed figure from Foster or an audited accounting of his finances. No primary public disclosure establishes his current assets, liabilities, income or spending.
Net worth is a snapshot of assets minus liabilities, not a record of cash on hand or purchases. Even if an estimate is directionally useful, it cannot show what a person spends in a typical month, how much is held in investments or property, or what debts may offset those assets. The available information does not establish Foster’s everyday expenses, travel budget, car collection, investments or current charitable contributions.
What property reports show
Celebrity Net Worth’s real-estate section describes several transactions involving Foster, including some made with a spouse. These are historical reported prices, not proof of what he owns today or how much money he personally retained. A sale price is not the same as net proceeds, and a jointly held property’s price does not establish one person’s share.

| Property report | Reported price and date | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Victoria penthouse, sold by David and Yolanda Foster | $5 million in 2014 | A reported sale price; not current ownership or Foster’s individual proceeds. |
| Malibu estate, sold by David and Yolanda Foster | $19 million in 2015, after an initial $27.5 million listing | A reported sale and earlier asking price; neither figure establishes net proceeds or present holdings. |
| Wilshire Corridor condominium, listed by Foster | $3.995 million asking price in 2020 | A reported listing price, not a confirmed sale or current asset value. |
| Brentwood-area mansion, purchased by David and Katharine Foster | $7.1 million in 2021 | A reported purchase price; it does not establish current ownership or an individual share. |
These reports help explain why property appears in accounts of Foster’s wealth, but they cannot be added up into a current property portfolio. The cited prices belong to different years and describe sales, an asking price and a purchase; they do not reveal present values, ownership arrangements, financing or other costs.
Why his career is relevant—but not a financial ledger
Foster’s official biography describes work as a studio musician, arranger, songwriter, composer, recording artist and producer. It lists collaborations with artists including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban and Chicago, as well as film soundtrack work. The biography says he helped launch the careers of Dion, Groban and Bublé.

The official biography gives useful context for a long, varied career, but credits do not disclose his personal earnings. Album sales and hit records do not, by themselves, reveal royalty rates, songwriting or publishing ownership, contract terms, taxes, expenses or how income was divided among collaborators. The career record helps explain why a wealth estimate may attract interest; it cannot verify the estimate or show how Foster uses money now.
The David Foster Foundation profile lists 16 Grammy wins, seven Juno Awards, an Emmy and three Oscar nominations. Awards document professional recognition, not income or present-day wealth.

What is public about Foster’s philanthropy
The David Foster Foundation says it supports Canadian families whose children need organ transplants, including help with practical costs such as mortgages, flights, hotels, rental cars and rental homes. In a feature published August 13, 2026, Foster described the organization this way: “I like to say that our foundation is the only bright spot in a parent’s worst day.”
The Foundation’s feature describes its work and history, including its 1986 start; it does not disclose the amount Foster personally contributes. His official biography says he established the Foundation after meeting a girl awaiting a liver transplant and reports that he volunteered time and talent to more than 400 charities over two decades. Those statements speak to charitable activity, not to a dollar total from his personal fortune.

What can be said about how he spends it?
Based on the available public information, no reliable answer can itemize Foster’s current personal spending. The $150 million figure is Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate; the property figures are dated reports; and the career and charity profiles do not disclose his personal accounts. Any claim that he spends a particular amount on homes, travel, cars, investments or giving would go beyond what these sources establish.
Readers interested in his work rather than an unverified spending profile can find his memoir, Hitman: Forty Years Making Music, Topping the Charts, and Winning Grammys, listed as a trade paperback on Simon & Schuster’s David Foster page. It is background on his career, not independent verification of his current net worth or spending.
