Severance is renewed for Season 3, and filming was reported underway by August 2026. Apple has not announced a premiere date, release schedule, or Season 3 cast list, so there is no confirmed answer yet to when the new season will arrive.
Has Severance been renewed for Season 3?
Yes. Apple announced the renewal on March 21, 2025, the day after the Season 2 finale. The announcement credited Dan Erickson as creator, writer, and executive producer, and Ben Stiller as executive producer and director. It named Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette among the series cast; that renewal announcement did not confirm which performers would return for Season 3. Earlier, on March 16, 2026, Scott said the start was “very, very soon” and teased “exciting new characters.” Those comments preceded the later report that filming had begun. Apple has not published a Season 3 synopsis. Its Season 2 description says Mark and his friends face further consequences after tampering with the severance barrier. That provides context for the story’s direction, but it is not a promise about specific Season 3 events. Apple’s renewal announcement
Scott’s March 2026 comments support the expectation of new characters, but the report did not name them. Apple has not announced a Season 3 cast list, episode count, or character outcomes. 9to5Mac’s March 2026 report
