Jacob & Co.’s Opera Godfather 50th Anniversary is a 50-piece watch that turns the film into a mechanical display: laser-etched scenes circle its case, quotations decorate its music barrels, and a music-box mechanism plays Nino Rota’s main theme as the movement rotates. The company introduced it in 2022 for the film’s 50th anniversary.
How the watch tells the film’s story
The 49 mm case is made of white gold. Around its caseband, Jacob & Co. arranged 13 scenes in the narrative order of the film. Don Vito Corleone’s image appears between the lugs at 6 o’clock. The company says it used a combination of nanolaser and femtolaser techniques to engrave the scenes, with 30 hours under the laser for each caseband. It also attributes 256 shading tones to the process.
The other film details are integrated into the music-box assembly. Two rose-gold barrels carry 13 quotations from the movie; one cover is shaped like a piano, while another bears the motif of a puppeteer’s strings. Founder and chairman Jacob Arabo described the intent as “a literal tribute to everything the film stands for.”
How it plays The Godfather theme
The watch contains a twin music-box mechanism that plays the film’s main theme, composed by Nino Rota. Jacob & Co.’s launch account describes the mechanism as using 120 pins and 30 blades. Activating the melody also sets the movement rotating, linking the audible tribute to the watch’s kinetic display.

This is not simply a conventional watch with a musical decoration added to the dial: the music box and the rotating movement are part of the central presentation. The launch account does not specify a melody duration or provide an independent assessment of the sound or timekeeping performance.
What the triple-axis tourbillon contributes
The musical mechanism is combined with a triple-axis flying tourbillon. A tourbillon is a rotating assembly for the escapement; in this watch, the multiple axes and flying construction make the movement’s motion a visible part of its spectacle. Jacob & Co. identifies the anniversary edition’s caliber as JCMF04 and gives it a total of 634 components.

Those figures are specific to the company’s anniversary launch account. They should not be confused with the separate Opera Godfather Baguette model: its product page identifies caliber JCFM04 and describes a 658-component, gem-set watch. Those are different models, so the Baguette page is not evidence for the anniversary edition’s component count or other specifications.
How many were made, and what is known about price?
Jacob & Co. described the anniversary watch as a limited series of 50 pieces in its October 27, 2022 launch article. That is the stated edition size, not confirmation of how many remain available today.

A later company article, dated January 30, 2023, reported a US$350,000 base price for the Opera Godfather collection and 110 sales as of the fourth quarter of 2022. These are historical, collection-level figures; they do not establish the anniversary edition’s price, sales, current stock, or resale value. A current quote would need to be confirmed for the exact reference with Jacob & Co. or a seller.

Because the edition is limited and its current availability is not established by the company’s launch announcement, a buyer should assess the individual watch and transaction rather than rely on collection-level figures.
