What changed when they met in person
At the reveal, Leo said he sensed Brittany did not think he was her type. Brittany said his appearance was not what unsettled her; she was surprised by the shift in energy and by how different the in-person feeling was from their conversations in the pods. She accepted Leo’s second proposal, but later described the moment as awkward and recalled thinking, “This is not my husband.”
For Brittany, the central issue was that physical chemistry could not be known through the wall separating the pod dates. As she put it, “you can’t predict physical chemistry through a wall. You just can’t.”

Why they ended the engagement
The couple tried spending time together after filming, away from the cameras. Leo remembered the first couple of days as “electric.” Brittany remembered their deep conversations but said she experienced him as a friend, not a romantic partner. “We would still have these long, deep talks about spirituality,” she recalled. “But ultimately [he] was just like a friend. We’d go to bed together, and I’m like, ‘Nothing here.’”
They mutually agreed to part ways because the connection was not developing into the kind of romance they wanted for marriage. That is the reason their accounts support: a pod connection that did not translate into lasting in-person chemistry, rather than a documented hidden argument or a specific physical trait. Brittany said she believed he would remain “a friend for life.”

Why Brittany and Leo did not go to Mexico
They were not among the six couples selected to continue filming in Mexico. A notice shown on the program said they took a trip to Miami on their own and ended the engagement weeks later, according to Forbes’ October 3, 2024 coverage. Leo told TV Insider/Swooon he learned after the reveal that they would not go and did not know why production made that decision.
The Mexico choice explains why viewers did not see them continue in the trip episodes; the available reporting does not establish that it caused their breakup. The relationship’s end and the production decision are separate parts of the story.
What was known about their relationship afterward
In a cast status update published October 31, 2024, Netflix Tudum described Brittany and Leo as close friends and reported that Brittany had entered another relationship. That is a dated update, not confirmation of either person’s relationship status in October 2026.
