Jasmine Jordan’s documented career path runs from basketball operations with the Charlotte Hornets to sports marketing at Jordan Brand, where she helped build relationships with NBA and WNBA athletes. A December 2022 profile in Forbes describes how she approached athlete partnerships and connected her work to the challenge of keeping Michael Jordan’s legacy meaningful for younger audiences.
From sports management to basketball operations
Jordan studied sports management at Syracuse University before starting her career as a coordinator of basketball operations with the Charlotte Hornets, according to Cheryl Robinson’s December 7, 2022 Forbes profile. The role put her in contact with the practical needs of both athletes and the team’s front office.
She also earned a Predictive Index Assessment certificate. The profile says the Hornets used the assessment during the draft to understand athletes across four areas: dominance, extraversion, patience and formality. That is an account of how the team used the assessment, not evidence that those categories measure athlete performance generally.
Moving from the Hornets to Jordan Brand
After five seasons with the Hornets, Jordan moved to Nike’s Jordan Brand. She told Forbes she wanted to broaden her skills and help create more opportunities for women in sports. Her first assignment was managing Jordan Brand’s relationship with the Hornets, which the profile described as the league’s only Jordan team at the time.

Her responsibilities then expanded to NBA players in the Southeast division and, later, to recruiting and working with women athletes. In December 2022, Forbes described Jordan as a Jordan Brand field representative working with 13 WNBA players. That is a figure reported at the time of publication, not a current roster count.
What athlete partnership work involved
The Forbes profile offers a glimpse of the judgment involved in Jordan’s reported approach to evaluating potential partners. She described paying attention to how a player responds to a loss, reviewing the way the athlete presents herself on social media, and asking for views from people who are not among her biggest fans. These are practices attributed to Jordan in the interview, not a formal, published Jordan Brand selection policy.

Partnership work can also mean recognizing athletes whose influence reaches beyond competition. Nike’s September 7, 2022 announcement of Jess Sims joining the Jordan Brand family identified Sims as a Peloton instructor, New York Liberty in-game host and College GameDay host. Nike said the partnership was intended to amplify women’s voices and connect sport, fashion and culture. The announcement quoted Jordan under the title “Jordan Brand Women’s Sports Marketing,” welcoming Sims as “an athlete, an educator and a role model for young girls and woman all over the globe.”
How Jordan describes the Jordan Brand legacy
Jordan told Forbes that younger consumers need ways to connect with a figure they may never have watched play. “At the end of the day, he’s retired, and we’re entering the phase where these kids have never seen him play,” she said. “So now, bringing them into the Brand and bringing them into the family is even harder.” She added, “Our consumers are keeping us honest.”

That challenge is not simply a matter of repeating the past. In the same profile, Jordan said, “Michael Jordan, the man, will never be duplicated.” She framed the brand’s future around athletes who can make it credible and relevant to a new generation.
Jordan Brand’s basketball identity also extends beyond athlete relationships. Nike’s July 1, 2023 design feature on Jordan Brand basketball footwear describes performance shoes intended to support motion while evoking emotion on and off court, and calls the Air Jordan signature shoe the brand’s pinnacle expression. It discusses athlete input and collaborative design teams; it does not establish that Jordan works in footwear design.

Representation and the legacy Jordan wants to build
Jordan’s account of legacy includes the people shaping sport now, especially women whose work can be overlooked in a male-dominated industry. “I’m building [my legacy] by championing women and speaking where they need to be heard,” she told Robinson. The WNBA relationships described in the profile and the Sims announcement offer concrete examples of the women’s sports partnerships associated with her work in 2022.
The career details available here are anchored in the 2022 Forbes interview, with Nike’s 2022 announcement providing an official example of her involvement. Those sources do not establish her exact current title or full duties as of October 5, 2026. Jordan also told Forbes she hoped to run the company one day and was working to learn its different areas; that was an ambition she expressed in 2022, not an announced succession plan.
