Perth artists Aidan Garnett and Caitlin Aguss painted a Shane Warne tribute mural behind No Mafia on William Street in Northbridge, Perth, in March 2022. Garnett created the green-and-gold “Warnie” lettering and “Rest in peace” message; Aguss painted the portrait of Warne bowling. The mural was completed over two days as a place for people to pay their respects.
Where was the Shane Warne mural in Perth?
PerthNow reported on 7 March 2022 that the mural was behind No Mafia restaurant on William Street in Northbridge, Perth. That is the location given in the contemporaneous report; it does not establish whether the mural remains there, what condition it is in, or whether the site is currently accessible. PerthNow’s report does not give visitor hours or access guidance.
Who painted it, and what does it show?
The mural was a collaboration between Perth artists Aidan Garnett and Caitlin Aguss, who are partners. Garnett painted “Warnie” in green and gold, evoking Australia’s 1999 ODI World Cup kit, and added “Rest in peace” to the left. Aguss painted Warne’s portrait on the right.
The portrait recreated Ian Hodgson’s photograph of Warne bowling during the second Test of the 2005 Ashes at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The composition brought a recognizable image of the bowler together with a personal tribute from the artists.

Why did the artists make the tribute?
Garnett told PerthNow that he and Aguss were shocked by news of Warne’s death on Friday night. How long did the mural take?
According to PerthNow’s 7 March 2022 report, the artists began painting on Saturday and returned on Sunday to finish the work, completing it over two days.
