Spoilers for all five episodes of Netflix’s 2025 limited series Missing You. Josh accidentally stabbed Kat’s father, Clint, while trying to stop Clint from attacking Aqua. Josh and Detective Stagger then concealed what happened and arranged for Monte to take the blame. Josh left Kat because he could not face her while hiding his part in her father’s death. Kat reaches toward him after he confesses, but the series leaves their future unresolved.
What happened in the finale?
The ending brings Kat’s search for the truth about her father’s murder together with the investigation into the missing people. The man convicted of killing Clint, Monte, confesses that he was paid to take the blame. As the evidence closes in, Josh’s fingerprint is found on the murder weapon. Josh admits he was there when Clint died.

According to Josh, the stabbing was accidental. Clint was attacking Aqua, and Josh intervened. Stagger arrived as Clint was dying. Josh and Stagger concealed the circumstances and used Monte as a scapegoat. Netflix’s ending explainer confirms Josh’s confession and motive for leaving; TIME’s account of the finale details the sequence involving Aqua and Stagger.
Who killed Clint?
Josh caused Clint’s fatal wound, but the series presents it as an accident during his attempt to stop Clint attacking Aqua—not as a planned murder. The cover-up is a separate choice: Josh and Stagger hid Josh’s role, and Monte was paid to accept the blame. The reveal explains why the case had pointed to the wrong person for years without making the deception any less consequential.

Why did Josh leave Kat?
Josh left because he could not stay with Kat while concealing his involvement in her father’s death. His disappearance is therefore tied to guilt and the cover-up, rather than proof that he had stopped loving her. But the explanation does not undo the years in which he withheld the truth from Kat.
Do Kat and Josh get back together?
The series does not confirm either forgiveness or a reunion. After Josh tells her the truth, Kat reaches toward him. Rosalind Eleazar, who plays Kat, told Netflix Tudum, “There’s something quite nice about her reaching toward him in the end. I think you could read that in many ways.” The gesture allows for hope, but it is not a definitive answer about what Kat decides.

What happens to Titus, Dana, and Brendan?
Kat’s other investigation leads to Titus’s dog farm. Titus’s operation uses fake dating profiles to lure people into kidnappings and extortion. Kat confronts and shoots Titus at the farm; Dana survives and reunites with Brendan, according to the Netflix finale explainer and TV Guide’s ending recap.
Why does Josh appear on the dating app?
The profile that draws Kat back into the mystery is fake; it is not evidence that Josh independently returned to the app. Fake profiles are part of Titus’s scheme to lure victims, connecting the missing-persons cases to Kat’s personal search for Josh.
