The timing of the disclosure can be easy to mistake for the timing of Val’s birth. Us Weekly reported that Val was six months old at the premiere, while Entertainment Tonight called him a toddler in an account published the following day. Those are descriptions in 2024 coverage, not a precise birth date.
Brady’s children and family life
Val is Brady’s son with Tina. Brady also has an older daughter, Maile, with his ex-wife, Mandie Taketa. Entertainment Tonight’s coverage described Brady’s blended-family life with Taketa, Maile and Taketa’s partner, Jason Fordham. Val and Tina lived separately from that household, and Brady’s co-parenting arrangement with Tina was distinct from the family life he shared with Taketa and Maile.

Brady told PEOPLE he wanted Val to know he was loved and not feel unwanted or ashamed. He said, “I never want Val to grow up thinking that he should be ashamed or look back and go, ‘Oh, my dad didn’t want me,’ or he was ashamed of me,” adding that he wanted Val to know he loved him as much as Maile. Brady described that as work he had to do.
What Brady said about co-parenting
Entertainment Tonight reported that Brady and Tina did not live near one another, but that he was a daily part of Val’s life. Brady characterized the arrangement as unfamiliar territory. On The Talk on September 23, 2024, Brady discussed being done having children. Us Weekly reported the segment the next day, quoting him: “Look, I’ve already got two [kids]. I’m 52. I’m not Moses or somebody from the Bible that needs to go forth.” He also joked or said that he should schedule a vasectomy appointment. That comment does not establish that he had the procedure.
