October 2025 deal archives offer a few dated Kindle-book leads, not a verified ranking of the month’s best books—and they do not show that any title is still free today. Before choosing a book, check its Kindle edition’s price on Amazon. Also distinguish a $0 purchase from a Prime Reading loan or a Kindle Unlimited borrow: only the first is a free-to-keep purchase without a subscription.
What “free Kindle book” can mean
A Kindle book can appear free in different ways. The distinction matters: a zero-price store listing is a purchase, while Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited provide borrowing access under separate terms.

Amazon UK says Prime Reading members can borrow up to 10 eligible titles at once, add them to their library, and return them through account management. That limit is specific to Amazon’s UK help page; do not assume it applies in every marketplace. Amazon UK’s Prime Reading help page explains the borrowing process.
Kindle Unlimited is not simply “free with Prime.” Amazon’s U.S. explainer describes KU as a paid monthly membership and gives a current price of $11.99 plus tax per month and a catalog of more than five million digital books and other content. Those figures are current descriptions, not October 2025 prices or permanent terms, so check Amazon’s current offer before subscribing. Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited explainer covers the service.

October 2025 titles in dated deal archives
The examples below show what two deal sites listed on particular dates. They are not a complete October roundup, an independently verified price history, or a claim that the books remain free. The archives themselves direct readers to check the Amazon listing.
Romance, children’s books, and cooking: FreeEbooksBlog, October 31
FreeEbooksBlog’s October 31, 2025 page lists Winter’s Kiss (Starling Bay Book 1) by Sienna Carr among its Kindle offers. The page describes a romance set in the coastal town of Starling Bay and also includes titles in children’s books and cooking. Horror: Freebooksy, October 30
Freebooksy’s October 30, 2025 archive labels Brandon Faircloth’s Don’t Let It In free in a horror ebook grouping. The archive also includes children’s and other genre titles on nearby dates. Its dated entry is historical evidence of what the site listed that day, not confirmation of a current $0 price. See the October 30, 2025 Freebooksy archive.
How to check a Kindle book before you get it
- Open the book’s Amazon product page and select the Kindle edition. A price shown for a print or audiobook edition does not tell you the Kindle price.
- Check the Kindle listing’s purchase option. If it shows a price of $0, it is a zero-price purchase; if it offers Prime Reading or Kindle Unlimited access, that is a borrow rather than a $0 purchase.
- Confirm the marketplace and the offer at the time you click. The October 2025 archives record dated listings, not live pricing.
- Read the description and check that the genre suits you. The dated examples span romance, horror, children’s books, and cooking, but the archives do not establish a month-wide ranking.
Do you need a Kindle device?
No. Amazon says Kindle books can be read using its free Kindle app on phones, tablets, and computers, as well as on a Kindle device. Amazon’s guide says Kindle books cannot be purchased directly in the Kindle app or Amazon shopping app; if you are using an app, it directs you to make the purchase through Amazon’s website in a browser. Prime Reading examples are a separate category
Amazon’s current Prime Reading recommendations include The Raven Spell by Luanne G. Smith and A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair as books associated with reading free with Prime. That makes them examples of Prime Reading access, not evidence that they were unrestricted $0 Kindle purchases in October 2025. Which option fits what you want?
- You want a book to keep without a subscription: Look for a $0 price on the Kindle edition and complete the purchase through Amazon.
- You already have Prime: Check the Prime Reading catalog for eligible borrowable titles; treat them as loans, not free-to-keep purchases.
- You are considering Kindle Unlimited: Check the subscription price and terms in your marketplace, then look for the KU badge on individual book listings. Amazon KDP notes that Kindle ebooks enrolled in KDP Select are automatically included in KU, but KU membership itself is separate from Prime. Amazon KDP’s Kindle Unlimited help explains the program.
