What did Zuckerberg say about Trump’s fist pump?
In a Bloomberg interview, Zuckerberg said: “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life.” He added: “On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy.” Bloomberg’s July 19, 2024 report gives the full wording.
Where and when did he say it?
Bloomberg reported the comments on July 19, 2024, following an interview at Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Bloomberg Television later published a clip of the remark, identifying Emily Chang as the interviewer. The July 22 clip is titled “Zuckerberg Calls Trump ‘Badass’ Without Endorsing Him #politics.” The sources establish that Zuckerberg was describing what he saw; they do not establish that he was physically present at the shooting.
Did Zuckerberg endorse Trump?
No. Bloomberg’s headline explicitly described the remark as praise “without endorsing” a presidential candidate, and its subheadline said Zuckerberg did not endorse Trump or Joe Biden. The Associated Press later reported that Zuckerberg did not endorse a candidate during the 2024 campaign. The AP report also noted his praise for Trump’s response.

The distinction is between admiration for a particular moment and support for a candidate. The remark showed that Zuckerberg found Trump’s immediate response emotionally affecting; by itself, it does not establish a broader political alignment.
