Who is Raquel Pomplum?
Pomplum is a model who was named 2013 Playmate of the Year. American Marketer reported the title on August 12, 2013, in an article about a Jaguar Land Rover event at Pebble Beach that she was expected to attend. Its focus was the event, not a full biography. Read the American Marketer report.
On February 11, 2014, People en Español published a photo feature describing her as the first Mexican-American Playmate of the Year. The feature was by Alexander Mabry, with photographs credited to Joel Flora. What did she say about the recognition?
In the People en Español feature, Pomplum recalled that her personality had stood out during the selection process: “Hef and other executives told me my personality was a highlight above everything else: ‘We can put you in any situation and you will always make the best of it.’” This is her account of what executives told her, not an independently verified statement from those executives.

The feature also attributes to her this reflection on beauty: “I think beauty is a complement of the outer with the inner. Beauty is more in smiles and words than in the physical.” The wording is quoted as printed in the photo feature, rather than presented as a verified transcript.
Why the surname appears two ways
The assigned title and the People en Español feature use “Pomplum.” Other retrieved results spell the surname “Pomplun.” Because the available sources conflict, “Pomplum” is retained here to match the cited feature and assigned title; the subject’s preferred spelling should be confirmed before publication.
