Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, for the royal family’s Christmas Day church walk at Sandringham on December 25, 2024. The children walked with their parents to St Mary Magdalene Church and greeted people gathered along the route, while King Charles III led the wider royal party.
What the Wales children did at Christmas
The family’s appearance took place at Sandringham in Norfolk. George, Charlotte and Louis accompanied William and Catherine on the walk to St Mary Magdalene Church for the Christmas service. Yahoo News reported that the children greeted well-wishers along the route. In its December 2024 coverage, the outlet listed George as 11, Charlotte as 9 and Louis as 6; those are their ages at the time, not current ages.
Yahoo News’ December 25, 2024 report placed the public appearance within a difficult year for the family. Catherine underwent abdominal surgery in January, announced in March that she was receiving chemotherapy, and said in September that she had completed treatment. The report does not establish what the Christmas appearance meant to the children or why the family chose to attend.
How the 2024 appearance fits the family’s recent Christmas events
The Sandringham church walk is distinct from Catherine’s Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. The Wales children attended that carol service in December 2023, and they also joined their family for the Sandringham Christmas service that year.

In remarks about her illness and the family’s privacy, Catherine said: “we have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.” The statement, reported by Yahoo News, was background from her March announcement; it was not a comment about the Christmas walk.
