The “major shifts” in the headline were not an official announcement. A PEOPLE feature published June 17, 2025, attributed the prediction to an unnamed friend but offered no specific plan or confirmation from the palace. Its subject was Catherine, Princess of Wales, and the summer of 2025—not her current plans in 2026.
What the PEOPLE feature reported
The feature, indexed as an exclusive by Simon Perry and Monique Jessen, portrayed Catherine as balancing recovery after cancer treatment, family life and a measured return to public engagements. That is the article’s characterization, not an independent medical assessment. The AOL-syndicated version uses a slightly different headline, adding “Some” before “Major Shifts”; it should not be mistaken for the exact canonical title.
Most importantly, the article did not explain what the predicted “shifts” would involve. The line “There are some major shifts coming behind the scenes” was attributed to a friend whose name was not given. It is anonymous-source speculation, not a statement from Catherine, the palace or an official royal announcement. Read the syndicated PEOPLE feature on AOL.
What was publicly confirmed that summer
Trooping the Colour, June 14
The PEOPLE feature discussed Catherine’s appearance at Trooping the Colour. The Royal Family’s event record confirms she travelled in the second Ascot Landau with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. That establishes her participation in the procession; it does not verify the unnamed friend’s prediction. See the Royal Family’s account of Trooping the Colour.

French state visit, July 8–10
On May 13, 2025, the Royal Family announced that French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron would visit the UK from July 8 to 10 and stay at Windsor Castle. A report published after the visit says the Prince and Princess of Wales greeted the Macrons on behalf of the King ahead of the welcome ceremony. These official records establish the scheduled visit and the Waleses’ role at that event; they do not confirm any broader change in royal duties. The feature quoted royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith saying, “She projected the confidence of someone who has enthusiastically reconnected with her public duties.” It also quoted Ailsa Anderson, a former spokeswoman for Queen Elizabeth II, on Catherine finding sustenance in nature and having homes in Norfolk and on the Windsor estate.
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields recalled Catherine saying, “During my recovery, I spent a lot of time in the outdoors, because that’s where I felt at peace.” This is Fields’s account of her words, as reported by the feature. These attributed remarks offer personal and interpretive context; they do not supply a concrete description of the “major shifts.”
