No—not based on the evidence shown. In Season 4, Episode 7, the replacement Black Noir throws Butcher around and reveals that he can fly. Those are formidable abilities, but the fight does not compare him directly with the original Noir, so it cannot establish which one is stronger.
First, these are two different people
The original Black Noir dies in the Season 3 finale. Vought then hires another person to take over the identity, with Nathan Mitchell—who played the original masked Noir—also playing the replacement. The change gives the character a speaking role while allowing Vought to keep Black Noir in The Seven. TVLine’s July 12, 2024 interview with Mitchell and The Direct’s July 23, 2024 report distinguish the replacement from the original.
That distinction matters: a feat by one man in the suit is not automatically a feat by the other. Season 4 Noir is a replacement, not the original revived or simply upgraded.
What the Season 4, Episode 7 scene proves
During the fight at the Boys’ Flatiron Building headquarters, the new Noir throws Butcher around and demonstrates that he can fly, according to The Direct’s report on the episode. Mitchell described the sequence as having “a lot of mayhem and a lot of destruction” and credited the stunt team for helping execute the fights.
#1 Best Overall
- Size: Total height: Approx. 6.3 inches (160 mm)
The scene establishes that the replacement is physically powerful and has flight. It does not show him fighting the original, provide a measured strength figure, or include an authoritative ranking of the two. A dramatic win or display against Butcher is not a controlled comparison with Noir’s predecessor.
What we know about the original Noir’s vulnerability
The original has a known weakness that offers a useful point of contrast, but not a strength score: a severe tree-nut allergy. In Season 2, Episode 7, Queen Maeve uses an Almond Joy to incapacitate him after he has Starlight in his clutches.
Rank #2
- From THE BOYS, SEVEN member "A-TRAIN" has appeared at MAFEX!
- Transparent pieces are used to accurately reproduce the texture of the dress. Includes 2 types of head parts: compound V, bag insert and moving figure stand
- Total height: Approx. 6.3" (160mm)
Showrunner Eric Kripke said the idea was inspired by Mitchell’s real tree-nut allergy and appealed to him because an ordinary vulnerability could take down a powerful supe. In an October 4, 2020 TVLine interview, Kripke said: “I was just tickled by the idea that someone as strong and powerful as Noir could be taken out by something so simple and something that so many people suffer from.” That explains the original’s vulnerability and the scene’s conception; it does not establish how he compares physically with the replacement.
Is there a definitive winner?
No. The available evidence supports comparing what each version is shown to do, not declaring one the stronger Noir:
Rank #3
- From The Boys, the DEEP member of the Seven is now available on MAFEX
- Stunning accessory pieces allow you to recreate scenes from the movie. Comes with 3 kinds of head pieces/movable figure stand
- Total height: approx. 160 millimeters
- Replacement: throws Butcher around in the Season 4, Episode 7 fight and can fly.
- Original: has a tree-nut allergy that Maeve exploits in Season 2, Episode 7.
These are different kinds of evidence, not equal-condition feats. The cited coverage supplies no direct head-to-head contest, stated strength scale, or creator statement naming a winner. A page using this exact question as its headline claims the replacement is stronger but also concedes the scene does not clearly show that he surpasses the original; it does not reliably substantiate the headline. The TechYorker page is therefore not a sound basis for treating the claim as canon.

The replacement is not just a familiar mask attached to the original’s established history: the show gives him demonstrated abilities of his own. The Flatiron fight makes him look dangerous and confirms flight, but it answers “What can the new Noir do?” more clearly than “Is he stronger than the old one?”
