Guinness World Records lists her age at the win as 22 years and 83 days.
Which ‘Barbie’ song won the Oscar?
The Academy named “What Was I Made For?” the 2024 winner for Best Original Song. Its official record credits both Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, for the music and lyrics. The Academy’s 96th Academy Awards page lists the result and songwriting credit.
Why was it Eilish’s second Oscar?
Eilish and O’Connell had already won Best Original Song for “No Time to Die,” the theme from the James Bond film, at the 2022 Academy Awards. The “Barbie” song therefore brought Eilish her second Oscar. The Recording Academy’s Oscars coverage identifies the win as her second.
How old was Eilish, and who held the record before her?
Guinness World Records records Eilish’s age as 22 years and 83 days when she won her second Academy Award. The previous youngest two-time Oscar winner was actor Luise Rainer, who was 28 when she won her second Best Actress award in 1938, according to the Associated Press report published March 11, 2024. The comparison is about winning a second Oscar; it does not mean Eilish was the youngest person ever to win an Oscar.
