The 2025 Fremantle International Street Arts Festival ran from Friday 18 to Monday 21 April, with Haribow, Imagicario and Torpeza Ritmika highlighted as three acts making their Australian debuts. Compagnie Bilbobasso’s Amor was also a premiere—but its first was in Western Australia, not Australia.
Which acts made their Australian debut?
The festival marked its 25th year in 2025. PerthNow’s contemporary lineup announcement singled out three Australian debuts:
- Haribow brought Double Dutch skipping to the program. Visit Fremantle described the group as a world-famous Double Dutch team and noted its status as a 2024 finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.
- Imagicario was described as a Canadian theatre company bringing two-metre-high stilt puppets representing fictional biodiversity. The archived schedule spells the name “Imaginario” in at least one listing; the announcement uses “Imagicario.”
- Torpeza Ritmika brought clowning and acrobatic hula-hoop performance, according to the announcement.
The festival’s official 2025 schedule spread performances across multiple pitches in Fremantle/Walyalup rather than a single stage. For instance, its Friday listings placed Haribow at the FOMO Pitch and Torpeza Ritmika at the Esplanade Park Pitch.
Why is Amor a separate premiere?
French company Compagnie Bilbobasso’s fire-filled Amor, which combines tango and pyrotechnics, was described by Visit Fremantle as appearing in Western Australia for the first time. That makes it a WA premiere, not one of the three Australian debuts. Performer Delphine Dartus told PerthNow, “We’re thrilled to be coming to WA and to this incredible festival,” in the outlet’s 7 March 2025 report.

When and where was the festival?
The four-day festival took place over the Easter long weekend, Friday 18 through Monday 21 April 2025. The official archived schedule gives the venues, pitches and performance times for individual acts; those details varied by day. The City of Fremantle also listed the dates in its Autumn 2025 City Life magazine.
According to the festival’s FAQ, the event is free and family-friendly. The festival website says it has welcomed street theatre to Fremantle/Walyalup since 1999 and acknowledges the Whadjuk people as Traditional Owners.
