Super Bowl LIX was played on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The film promotions associated with the game included trailers, short TV spots and a playful promotional clip—not eight full-length trailers. A contemporaneous Rotten Tomatoes roundup names eight titles, while coverage from Good Morning America helps distinguish game-day material from trailers and spots released earlier in Super Bowl week.
Film promotions shown during the game
These are the eight films listed in Rotten Tomatoes’ roundup of promotions associated with Super Bowl LIX. The formats varied, and the roundup does not establish a complete official broadcast log.
| Film | What appeared | What viewers saw |
|---|---|---|
| Novocaine | Super Bowl-week promotional material | Good Morning America reports that the film’s TV spot debuted before the game; Rotten Tomatoes also includes it in its event-day roundup. It was scheduled for U.S. theaters on March 14, 2025, according to the roundup. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| Smurfs | Big Game spot shown ahead of the broadcast | Good Morning America says the spot was shown before the Super Bowl. The event-day roundup includes the film and listed a U.S. theatrical date of July 18, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| F1 The Movie | Second look at the film | Rotten Tomatoes includes it in its event-day roundup and describes the item as a second look. Its listed U.S. theatrical date was June 27, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes |
| Jurassic World Rebirth | Short TV spot | The Super Bowl item was a spot, not the film’s first trailer; Good Morning America says that trailer had arrived earlier in the week. Rotten Tomatoes says the spot reused much of the earlier trailer. Universal listed the film for theaters on July 2. NBCUniversal Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning | Game-day Big Game spot | The shorter spot reused much of earlier footage, with a few brief new shots. Rotten Tomatoes listed a U.S. theatrical date of May 23, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| Lilo & Stitch | Promotional clip, not a conventional trailer | Stitch runs onto a football field, takes over a cart and crashes it into a goalpost. Rotten Tomatoes listed a U.S. theatrical date of May 23, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| How to Train Your Dragon | 30-second game-day spot | The live-action reimagining’s spot first showed Hiccup riding Toothless, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Its listed U.S. theatrical date was June 13, 2025. NBCUniversal Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
| Thunderbolts* | Game-day trailer with additional footage | The trailer offered team context and glimpses of the villain. Rotten Tomatoes listed a U.S. theatrical date of May 23, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America |
Other notable Super Bowl-week releases
Several film promotions were part of the week’s conversation but should not be conflated with spots shown during the broadcast.
- M3GAN 2.0: NBCUniversal included the official teaser in its Super Bowl promotional slate, and Good Morning America reported that it was released. The coverage does not establish that it aired during the game. NBCUniversal Good Morning America
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps: Good Morning America says the first trailer was released during the week leading up to the Super Bowl; it does not identify it as a game-day spot. Good Morning America
- Jurassic World Rebirth: Its first trailer arrived earlier in the week; the shorter Super Bowl-associated item was a separate spot. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America
- Novocaine and Smurfs: Good Morning America places their TV spot and Big Game spot, respectively, before the broadcast, though both appear in Rotten Tomatoes’ event-day roundup. Rotten Tomatoes Good Morning America
How to read the roundup
“Trailer” is often used casually for any movie promotion, but these reports distinguish several formats. A trailer typically gives a broader preview; a TV spot is shorter; a teaser offers a more limited introduction; and the Lilo & Stitch clip was a comic promotional scene rather than a conventional preview. Timing matters too: a Super Bowl-week release is not necessarily an ad that aired during the game.

The inventory here reflects Rotten Tomatoes’ roundup and Good Morning America’s timing distinctions, not a verified exhaustive list from an official broadcast log. For the Jurassic World Rebirth release date, NBCUniversal’s recap says “In Theaters July 2.” Rotten Tomatoes’ page also contains an anomalous “March 10, 2023” date for that film, which conflicts with the 2025 context and should not be treated as its release date.
