Sentencing was scheduled for October 5, 2026; as of October 4, sentencing had not yet occurred.
What happened to Ashley Flynn?
Ashley Flynn, 37, was a schoolteacher and volleyball coach. She was shot and killed in February 2026 at the couple’s home in Tipp City, Ohio, north of Dayton. Caleb Flynn was 40 at the time, according to the Associated Press.
Flynn was initially charged with offenses including murder, assault and tampering with evidence, and pleaded not guilty. Police and prosecutors alleged that he killed his wife and staged a burglary. Those were allegations while the case was pending trial, not findings of guilt at that stage.
What did the jury decide?
On September 29, 2026, the jury found Flynn guilty. The Associated Press reported convictions for murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence. ABC News reported that the jury found him guilty of all charges submitted to it, including aggravated murder. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson’s office also acknowledged the murder conviction in a statement issued after the verdict.

Wilson thanked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Tipp City Police Department and Miami County Prosecutor’s Office for their work “from the initial investigation through today’s guilty verdict.” His statement is an official response to the verdict, rather than a separate judicial finding about every disputed detail.
What evidence and arguments were reported at trial?
Trial coverage described testimony from Alleigha Botner, who said she had an alleged affair with Flynn. The Associated Press reported that jurors heard some of the more than 100,000 text messages authorities said Flynn and Botner exchanged. Prosecutors argued that Flynn staged a home invasion. The affair, the messages and the staging theory should be understood in the context of testimony, reported evidence and prosecution arguments; the volume of messages alone does not establish every detail of the case.

What happens next?
At the October 4, 2026, reporting cut-off, sentencing was scheduled for October 5. The Associated Press reported that Flynn could face life in prison without parole and that his lawyer expected to appeal. Sentencing had not yet taken place, and an expected appeal is not the same as a filed appeal. Later court developments may change those details.
