Huma Abedin and Alex Soros are married. Vogue reported that they wed at their home in Water Mill, New York, in June 2025. Their engagement had been announced the previous year, after Abedin accepted Soros’s proposal in 2024.
Who is Huma Abedin?
Huma Abedin is a political strategist and author best known for her long association with Hillary Clinton. According to her official biography, Abedin began as an intern in Clinton’s office in 1996. She later worked in the White House, served as a senior adviser in the Senate and as traveling chief of staff on Clinton’s 2008 campaign, and became deputy chief of staff at the State Department in 2009. In 2016, she served as vice chair of Hillary for America.
Abedin is also the author of Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds, her memoir. Simon & Schuster describes her as Clinton’s longtime adviser and lists the book; the publisher’s book page provides further details.
How did Huma Abedin meet Alex Soros?
Vogue reported in July 2024 that Abedin and Soros met at a mutual friend’s birthday party the previous fall. That account supplies the reported setting, but does not establish a fuller public relationship history.

When did Huma Abedin and Alex Soros get engaged?
The couple confirmed their engagement to Vogue on July 10, 2024. Vogue’s report said Soros proposed at their New York City home in late May, followed by a formal celebration in Italy. In a later Vogue interview, Abedin gave the engagement date as June 4, 2024: “We got engaged June 4, 2024, right downstairs by the dining table.”
