Mike Wolfe Shares Update on Frank Fritz’s Loved Ones Six Months After His Death

Mike Wolfe said he checks in with Frank Fritz’s brother and longtime friend Annette from time to time, and can answer questions about belongings they come across. In an interview with People published April 2, 2025, Wolfe also described Fritz as having a small circle of close friends who were still working through their grief about six months after Fritz’s death. Parade reported the interview and Wolfe’s comments.

What Mike Wolfe said about staying in touch

As quoted by Parade from the People interview, Wolfe said he checks in with Fritz’s brother and Annette “from time to time.” He added that he can answer questions if they have questions about items of Fritz’s they come across. His description indicates occasional contact and help with questions about belongings; it does not establish that he manages Fritz’s estate or makes decisions for the family.

Parade quoted Wolfe: “I check in with them from time to time and see what’s going on, and if they have any questions in regards to some of the things that they’re coming across of his, I am able to answer those for them.”

Wolfe described Fritz’s circle as small

Wolfe said Fritz had a small circle of close friends. Parade reported that, about six months after Fritz died, those close to him were still trying to get through their grief. His comments speak to the people in that circle, rather than establishing how every member of Fritz’s family or wider community was feeling.

“Frank always had a very small circle,” Wolfe said, according to Parade. “He learned early in life that he didn’t need 20 acquaintances, he just needed three or four really good friends.”

Frank Fritz’s death and his relationship with Wolfe

Fritz died at age 60 on September 30, 2024. The Associated Press reported that he died at a hospice facility in Davenport, Iowa, and attributed details to longtime friend Annette Oberlander. AP also reported that Fritz had a stroke in 2022 and never fully recovered. AP’s report on Fritz’s death identified him and Wolfe as longtime co-hosts of American Pickers, the History Channel series about finding antiques and collectibles to buy and resell.

Parade also reported that Wolfe told People he was able to be with Fritz shortly before his death. Wolfe had previously honored his co-host in a social-media tribute quoted by AP: “The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself.”
