The comparison is explicit in Stuff’s 16 April 2026 coverage; Hautlence describes the design more broadly as an interpretation of an iconic communication device from 1960s science fiction. It is a watch, not a working communicator, and the available sources do not establish an official Star Trek license.
What is the Retrovision ’64?
The Retrovision ’64 is a three-piece concept watch in Hautlence’s Concepts line. The brand calls it its third concept. Its official press index lists the model in April 2026, and the product page identifies it as reference ED50-TI00. Hautlence says the watch was unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2026.
The case opens beneath a perforated, grille-like cover, giving the watch its communicator-like silhouette. Hautlence’s product description calls it a transformation of an iconic communication device from 1960s science fiction; Stuff makes the specific Star Trek connection. Neither source identifies it as an officially licensed Star Trek product.
How does the watch display time?
Rather than using a conventional set of central hands, the Retrovision ’64 combines a linear jumping-hours display with a separate minute dial. Stuff describes the hour indicator as advancing when the minute dial returns to zero. Hautlence credits Agenhor with developing the linear jumping-hours display in collaboration with the brand.

Those dimensions and the hinged cover make this a deliberately unusual, substantial wristwatch rather than a discreet everyday design. The published specifications establish its size and materials, but do not establish how comfortable it is on the wrist, how durable the cover is, or how the watch performs in independent timekeeping tests.
Price, production and availability
| Information | What the source states |
|---|---|
| Official listed price | CHF 120,000 excluding VAT, on Hautlence’s product page accessed 4 October 2026. |
| Reported price | $165,000, as reported by Stuff on 16 April 2026; this is a dated media figure, not the current official brand price. |
| Production limit | Three pieces, according to Hautlence’s product page. |
The two price figures are in different currencies and come from different sources and dates. They should not be treated as directly comparable sale prices. Hautlence’s page includes reservation and purchase controls, but the sources do not confirm whether any of the three watches remain available; current stock needs to be checked with the brand or an authorized retailer.

What the Star Trek comparison does—and does not—mean
The communicator reference is a visual and cultural comparison: the flip-open cover and perforated grille evoke the handheld device seen in Star Trek. Hautlence’s own copy uses broader science-fiction language, while Stuff explicitly names Star Trek. There is no basis in these sources to describe the watch as a licensed collaboration, a functional communicator or a product endorsed by Star Trek’s rights holders.
