The film once discussed as Prometheus 2 was retitled Alien: Covenant and opened on May 19, 2017, according to 20th Century Studios’ official film page. Noomi Rapace did not reprise Elizabeth Shaw in the feature, though she appeared in the promotional prologue The Crossing.
What happened to Prometheus 2?
The follow-up to Prometheus was released as Alien: Covenant, not under the working shorthand “Prometheus 2.” The title change was reported during development by Screen Daily. The studio lists the film’s release date as May 19, 2017.

Why did early reports give a different date and cast information?
Those reports captured a project still changing. Screen Daily’s title-announcement coverage gave an October 6, 2017 opening date and said Rapace was believed to be involved. In January 2016, a later report said she would not return as Shaw in the feature. The final studio listing gives May 19, 2017, rather than the earlier planned October date.
Read the announcements as snapshots from different stages of development, not as simultaneous final details: the title, schedule and casting expectations evolved before release.

Where is Noomi Rapace in Alien: Covenant?
Rapace is not part of the released feature as Elizabeth Shaw. She did appear as Shaw in The Crossing, a short promotional prologue set between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Rapace’s project page distinguishes that short from the feature film; her filmography also lists a brief, uncredited appearance.
That distinction explains why viewers may encounter Rapace connected to the film’s promotion while not seeing her return as a cast member in the main movie. A May 2017 TIME article addressed how the feature handled Shaw.
