Why do episode guides show different numbering or dates?
Catalogs do not present the episode uniformly. Rotten Tomatoes labels “For the Sake of Elena” Season 1, Episode 3 and lists an April 22, 2002 air date. TV Guide also identifies it as episode 3, but gives September 14, 2003 and a 90-minute slot. Sky presents the story as a two-part title in its season catalog. These are differing catalog and broadcast presentations, not a reconciled universal chronology. TV Guide · Sky

When searching a guide or streaming catalog, use the title “For the Sake of Elena” alongside the series name. A service may divide or label the story differently, so check its local listing rather than assuming the season and part numbers will match another guide.

The television story shares its title and central victim with Elizabeth George’s For the Sake of Elena, part of her Inspector Lynley series. Penguin Random House describes the novel’s Elena as a Cambridge student and the investigation as an inquiry into the connections and secrets surrounding her death. The book is a companion for readers interested in the story, but it is a novel, distinct from this television adaptation. The publisher lists paperback edition ISBN 9780553905281 and ebook formats.
