Wall Street Journal-attributed reporting says Nick Reiner interrupted Bill Hader at Conan O’Brien’s December 13, 2025 holiday party, and Hader told him he was having a private conversation. The account is reported, not a public first-person statement from Hader.
What was reportedly said at the party?
According to Wall Street Journal reporting discussed by reporter John Jurgensen on CNN, Reiner approached guests at the party with questions that included whether they were famous. Hader was among the people he approached.
Mediaite, also citing the Wall Street Journal, reported that Reiner interrupted Hader and asked questions including his name, last name, and whether he was famous. In that account, Hader told Reiner the conversation was private, and Reiner was eventually asked to leave the party.
Those details describe what the reports attribute to their sources; they are not a verified, word-for-word transcript of an exchange.

Was there a major fight between Nick and Rob Reiner?
A separate account from an unnamed Hollywood executive who attended the party, reported by TheWrap, disputed that Rob and Nick Reiner had a blow-out fight. The attendee said Nick interrupted Conan O’Brien and Hader and behaved strangely, but that the encounter ended there. The attendee also relayed O’Brien’s reported words: “I saw no fight.” That is second-hand, anonymous attribution—not an on-record statement from O’Brien.
How firmly is the Hader account established?
The Hader interaction has been presented through Wall Street Journal reporting and anonymous sourcing, then discussed by Jurgensen on CNN. Mediaite recounted that reported version. TheWrap’s attendee account independently describes an interruption and unusual behavior, while disputing a major fight. The accounts therefore overlap on an awkward interruption but do not establish that every detail of the reported Hader exchange was confirmed by witnesses.

It does not verify or explain the party anecdote. On August 12, 2026, the Associated Press reported that a grand jury indicted Nick Reiner on murder charges, including a lying-in-wait allegation, and that he pleaded not guilty. Los Angeles County stated that “the charges filed in this case are allegations.” The legal proceedings are separate from the reported interaction at O’Brien’s party.
