Wade said the writers wanted the finale to work as a strong episode of the show while acknowledging that it was the last one, rather than turning it into a retrospective. As he put it, “people tune in just to see a really good episode of the show that they loved.” He discussed that approach in TVLine’s September 5, 2024 interview and revisited the finale in the October 14 interview.
