Lady Gaga surprised the crowd at Bruno Mars’s first concert at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome on August 15, 2024, joining him in the first encore to perform their duet, “Die With a Smile.” ABC Audio reported it as the song’s live debut.
When and where did Gaga join Bruno Mars?
The appearance took place on August 15, 2024, at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. It was the first of two concerts with which Mars opened the new arena. During the first encore, the lights came up and Mars introduced Gaga.
ABC Audio reported that Mars wore the cowboy hat seen in the song’s video, while Gaga wore a beehive wig and a retro 1960s-style dress. After they performed, Mars addressed the audience and introduced her, saying, “Everybody make some noise for mother herself!” He followed with, “Give it up for Lady Gaga!” ABC Audio’s August 16, 2024 report recounts the appearance and quotes the introduction.
What song did they perform?
They performed “Die With a Smile,” their duet. ABC Audio described the performance as the song’s live debut. A later Live Nation announcement published January 8, 2026 also refers to the surprise performance at Intuit Dome.

Was the duet connected to Joker: Folie à Deux?
At the time of ABC Audio’s August 2024 report, “Die With a Smile” was described as a standalone collaboration. The report noted rumors of a connection to Joker: Folie à Deux but said that connection had not been confirmed. That was the status reported then; it should not be treated as a current statement about the film’s soundtrack.
