Spoilers for all six episodes of The Glass Dome. Valter kidnapped both Lejla, when she was a child, and Alicia years later. Tomas finds them in a concealed chamber beneath Valter’s home and rescues them; Valter is arrested.
How the finale reveals the kidnapper
The Netflix limited series, originally titled Glaskupan, follows criminologist Lejla as she returns to her isolated Swedish hometown after her adoptive mother dies. When Alicia disappears, the investigation echoes Lejla’s own childhood abduction. The official Netflix episode descriptions establish that parallel and say the sixth episode reveals the truth behind Lejla’s abduction.

The truth is that Valter—Lejla’s adoptive father and a person she trusted—was responsible for both cases. The finale connects the childhood crime to Alicia’s disappearance: Valter had abducted Lejla as a child, then later kidnapped Alicia. The reveal makes the two disappearances part of the same story rather than unrelated mysteries.
How Alicia and Lejla are rescued
After Lejla disappears, Tomas returns to Valter’s property. He finds a dead police officer and uncovers a hidden underground chamber. Alicia is unconscious after Valter has strangled her, while Lejla is trapped inside the glass enclosure. Tomas intervenes, and both women are rescued. Valter is arrested. What Valter’s answer about the lake reveals
During a prison visit, Lejla asks Valter where the other victims’ bodies are. He tells her they are in the lake where he used to take her when she was little. That answer indicates his crimes extended beyond Lejla and Alicia. The finale account does not establish the victims’ identities or number, so the lake clue should not be taken as specifying either.

The enclosure is both a physical prison in the finale and a possible image of the captivity and control that shape Lejla’s life. The series’ episode descriptions connect her present investigation with the trauma of her childhood abduction, which supports that interpretation. It is an interpretation, however, not a confirmed explanation of the dome’s symbolism by the creator.

Netflix Media Center identifies the series as Swedish and lists its U.S. release as April 15, 2025, at 7:00 AM GMT. The official Netflix catalog describes it as a 2025 limited series created by Camilla Läckberg.
