In February 2025, Ashley St. Clair alleged that Elon Musk was the father of her five-month-old baby and said he had not publicly acknowledged a parental role. Her representative, Brian Glicklich, said the two had been working privately on an agreement about raising the child and urged Musk to complete it. That statement described talks toward an agreement—not a signed or finalized arrangement.
What did Ashley St. Clair say, and what did “finish their agreement” mean?
On February 14, 2025, St. Clair wrote on X that she had welcomed a baby five months earlier and alleged Musk was the father. As reported by The Independent, she said she had kept the news private to protect the child and asked the media to avoid invasive coverage.
The next day, Glicklich said St. Clair and Musk had been working privately toward an agreement about raising the child. He asked Musk to publicly acknowledge a parental role and finish the agreement quickly, saying St. Clair trusted he intended to do so in the child’s interests. His statement did not establish that they had completed or signed an agreement.
Did Elon Musk acknowledge the baby at the time?
Not in the public response cited in contemporaneous coverage. On February 15, Musk replied “Whoa” to a third-party X post about St. Clair, according to NDTV. The reply was not a direct response to St. Clair’s paternity allegation and did not explicitly acknowledge that he was the father.

The Independent reported at the time that St. Clair had not publicly provided evidence of the child’s existence, and that it had sought comment from Musk. The allegation should therefore be understood in that early context, rather than as a publicly confirmed fact at the time.
How did the public accounts and legal reporting develop?
March 2025: competing accounts of paternity and support
Later reporting described St. Clair filing legal papers seeking recognition of paternity and sole custody. In March, Musk wrote that he did not know whether the child was his but was open to finding out, as quoted in Forbes Australia. He also said he had provided $2.5 million and was sending $500,000 a year. St. Clair disputed his description of the support and alleged that he had refused a pre-birth paternity test. These are the parties’ reported claims, not independently established financial findings.

August 2025: a paternity-test result reported secondhand
In August 2025, Us Weekly reported that The Wall Street Journal had put a later paternity test’s probability of paternity at 99.9999%. The figure is the Journal’s result as relayed by Us Weekly; it is not a court finding, and the underlying test document was not included in that reporting reviewed here.
January and September 2026: no reported final resolution
In January 2026, Forbes Australia reported that Musk said he would seek full custody and described the paternity and custody case as ongoing. Its coverage did not report a final custody ruling or a completed parenting agreement.

In September 2026, the Associated Press reported that St. Clair appeared in an Alex Gibney documentary about Musk and discussed their relationship and an alleged nondisclosure agreement connected to paternity support. That is later context about St. Clair’s account; it does not establish the terms or outcome of a parenting agreement. The AP also reported separate litigation between St. Clair and xAI over allegedly generated sexualized deepfake images. That case is distinct from the parenting dispute.

The available reporting cited here does not establish that they reached a final parenting agreement or that a court issued a final custody order. Glicklich’s February 2025 statement described efforts to reach an agreement, while later coverage described ongoing legal proceedings. That distinction matters: a request to finish an agreement is not evidence that the agreement was completed.

St. Clair asked the media to respect the child’s privacy. The public statements and reporting summarized here do not require further personal details about the child to explain the dispute.
