A 2014 Scroll.in feature by Mayank Jain names works by Frank Cadogan Cowper, Agnolo Bronzino, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Hans Holbein the Younger, Diego Velázquez and Rembrandt. Its text does not confirm that one of the pictured mashups is the Mona Lisa.
What the feature covers
Mayank Jain’s illustrated feature, published by Scroll.in on October 9, 2014, is about caricature artist Rodney Pike’s digital mashups—not a Mr Bean television episode or the plot of the 1997 film Bean. The feature credits its pictures to “Rodney Pike via Paste Magazine.” Read the Scroll.in feature.
Which famous works are named
The feature’s text identifies several source paintings and portrait subjects. It does not explain Pike’s editing technique or rank the results, so the works are best understood as examples of the paintings represented rather than as a critical comparison.
| Original work or subject named | Artist |
|---|---|
| Vanity | Frank Cadogan Cowper |
| Portrait of a Young Man | Agnolo Bronzino |
| Meditation; Breton Brother and Sister | William-Adolphe Bouguereau |
| Sir Thomas More; Portrait of Thomas Howard | Hans Holbein the Younger |
| Portrait of Juan de Pareja | Diego Velázquez |
| Portraits | Rembrandt |
Does the feature show Mr Bean in the Mona Lisa?
The headline mentions the Mona Lisa, but the feature’s visible text does not name a Mona Lisa mashup among its examples. Without confirming the relevant image, it would be inaccurate to claim that the text establishes one. The named examples are other portraits and paintings.

Is this related to the 1997 Bean film?
Only through the character. Universal Pictures At Home describes Bean (1997) as a comedy in which Mr Bean is sent to California for the presentation of a world-famous painting; that film concerns Whistler’s Mother. The studio lists digital, Blu-ray and DVD formats for the film, not for Pike’s mashups. See Universal Pictures At Home’s film page.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you buy the mashups?
The cited feature credits Pike’s artwork but does not establish a print edition, book, store or purchase route. The film’s physical editions are a separate product and should not be mistaken for editions of the mashups.
