They were offered through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. EA’s 25th-anniversary announcement describes the releases and their contents.
What was rereleased?
EA sold each game as a Legacy Collection, with the original game and its listed add-ons. The 25th Birthday Bundle combines both collections; it is not a separate game.

The Sims: Legacy Collection
The collection includes The Sims and seven expansion packs: Livin’ Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, Superstar, and Makin’ Magic. EA’s anniversary page also lists The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit as bonus content.
The Sims 2: Legacy Collection
This collection includes The Sims 2 and eight expansion packs: University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Bon Voyage, Seasons, FreeTime, and Apartment Life. It also includes nine stuff packs: Holiday Party Pack, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, Happy Holiday Stuff, Celebration! Stuff, H&M Fashion Stuff, Teen Style Stuff, Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff, and Mansion & Garden Stuff. EA lists The Sims 4: Grunge Revival Kit as bonus content.

Where can you buy the collections, and what do they cost?
The releases are digital PC products available through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. EA’s original US suggested retail prices at launch were:

Those are launch prices, not guaranteed current prices or prices for every region. On October 4, 2026, the US EA store listed The Sims: Legacy Collection at $9.99, reduced from a $19.99 list price; that is a dated store snapshot, not a standing offer. Check EA’s US store listing and the other sellers for current regional pricing. Compare the contents you want as well as the prices before choosing the bundle; its current value depends on the offers in your region.

Will the rereleases run on your PC?
EA describes both collections as rebuilt for modern systems while retaining the original gameplay and graphics. Its listed minimum specifications for each collection are:
- Operating system: Windows 10. EA also describes Windows 10 and 11 support for the rereleases.
- Processor: Intel i3-3220, AMD Ryzen 3 1200, or AMD FX-6300.
- Memory: 4 GB RAM.
- Storage: 16 GB available space.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 600 series or later, AMD Radeon HD 7000 series or later, or Intel HD Graphics 620 series or later.
EA’s technical notes distinguish the games’ graphics support: The Sims supports Vulkan, widescreen displays, and higher-quality textures for buildings and objects; The Sims 2 uses DirectX 9.c. EA says it fixed some reported legacy issues in The Sims 2, including black shadow boxes beneath Sims and pink rendering in neighborhoods, but did not make fixes it considered to carry major design risks. Can returning players use old saves or mods?
Save files
EA says existing saves for either game may work if they are not corrupted. The save locations changed, so returning players need to copy their old files into the new locations using EA’s instructions. Corrupted saves can cause missing content, unexpected behavior, or crashes; consult EA’s save-transfer guidance before moving files.
Mods
Mod capability remains, but Maxis has not tested or officially supported mods for these rereleases. Compatibility is the responsibility of each mod’s creator, so a mod that worked with an older installation is not guaranteed to work here.

Are these physical releases?
The announced collections are digital PC products; EA’s announcement does not establish a physical edition. EA separately announced 25th-anniversary merchandise, including apparel, retro pins, and a gamer mat, but those items are not required to play.
