DREDGE, the fishing adventure that turns an isolated archipelago into a place of creeping cosmic dread, has an announced live-action feature-film adaptation. Black Salt Games and production company Story Kitchen announced the project in April 2024. It remains a development project in the available updates: no release date, cast, distributor, or confirmed start of filming has been established.

Black Salt Games said, “We are excited to partner with such an experienced studio team to bring the world we created to live action and ignite the imagination of audiences across the globe,” in the announcement statement carried by Game Informer.
What development details have emerged?
Kehan Miller’s project page says he is guiding development and negotiations for the adaptation. Miller’s account also describes early concept-design work with Wētā Workshop and script development involving director Andrew Adamson. The announcement-era pitch described the film as “The Sixth Sense on the water” and as a grounded, atmospheric blend of cosmic horror, H. P. Lovecraft, and Ernest Hemingway. It is a sales pitch for the project, not a confirmed plot synopsis or final creative brief. GameSpot reported the pitch.
Why does DREDGE lend itself to a horror film?
In the game, players fish, sell their catch, upgrade a boat, and explore a mysterious archipelago while dredging up long-buried secrets. Team17 describes it as a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. The contrast between a practical fishing routine and the increasingly unsettling mysteries around it gives an adaptation a natural tension to build on—but the game’s loop is not itself a confirmed film plot.
