Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri, held at Makuhari Messe on January 25, 2026, brought together the major announcements for the franchise’s 40th-anniversary celebration. The headline news was two anime projects: Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol entered production, and Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was scheduled for Japanese television in fall 2026. The event also revealed a new game project, updates for existing games, mobile-game news, card products and events, and merchandise.
Two Dragon Ball Super anime projects lead the announcements
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol
Production was announced for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, a project that follows the Universe Survival arc and adapts material from the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. The event announcement established that the project is in production; it did not provide a release date.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was described as an enhanced version of the Dragon Ball Super anime. It was scheduled to air on Fuji Television in Japan in fall 2026. That is a Japan-specific schedule, not a stated international release date.
AGE 1000 introduces a new game universe
The AGE 1000 project was announced as an all-new Dragon Ball game featuring a new universe and characters created by Akira Toriyama. The event recap did not state a release date or platforms, so neither can be inferred from the announcement.

Why the anniversary matters
Toei Animation dates the beginning of the Dragon Ball phenomenon to 1984, when Akira Toriyama’s manga appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump. Toei’s announcement for Dragon Ball DAIMA reports 260 million copies sold worldwide, but the cited announcement page does not specify the year for that figure.
DAIMA itself was not newly announced at Genkidamatsuri. Toei described it as a new anime whose original work, story and character design were by Toriyama; at the 2026 event, it was recalled as one of the developments during the anniversary year.
