No new retirement or hiatus announcement is established by the available reporting. Becky Lynch has discussed being away from WWE television, but that is different from confirming she is stepping away from wrestling. Her clearest older remark—that she was not wrestling “right now”—was reported in April 2025 and should not be recast as a new 2026 decision.
What Becky Lynch said about her WWE TV absence
A July 27, 2026, Fightful report said Lynch discussed her absence from WWE television in an interview on Off The Ropes. The report said her last television appearance had been in June and that she had dropped the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Sol Ruca at the May Clash in Italy event. In the interview, Lynch said, “We do need me,” and argued that viewers should see what WWE television looks like without her. Fightful’s account and transcription concern her television absence; they do not report a decision to stop wrestling.
TV absence is not the same as leaving wrestling
A performer can be off weekly television without announcing a break from wrestling altogether. The cited July report attributes comments to Lynch about her absence, but does not describe them as a retirement or a confirmed hiatus from the ring.
What her earlier “not wrestling” comment meant
In April 2025, Lynch was quoted as saying, “I’m not wrestling anymore… Maybe one day but not right now.” POST Wrestling’s report dates that remark to 2025. It describes how she felt then, not a fresh announcement in 2026.

Did she say her WWE contract would be her last?
January 2026 coverage described Lynch as saying her contract was probably or possibly her last, while also saying she had plenty left to give and discussing her family. Those qualifications matter: the comments do not establish a definite retirement decision. Wrestling Inc.’s coverage reports on the contract remarks, not a confirmed end to her career.
What the “seven years away” refers to
The seven-year period sometimes mentioned in coverage refers to an early-career stretch Lynch later recalled on No-Contest Wrestling. She described pressure, self-doubt and feeling lost during that period. It was a retrospective account of an earlier stage in her life, not a newly announced break from wrestling. Reports discussing those comments include Fightful and Wrestling Inc..
