Choose Gyre if you want uploaded cartoons streamed from a cloud service; choose OBS if you want to run the broadcast yourself from a computer you keep online. Gyre shifts much of the playout operation to its servers for a recurring fee. OBS is the local-computer route: you manage the machine, internet connection, and recovery. Neither option guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast, YouTube eligibility, rights clearance, or monetization.
What changes when you choose Gyre or OBS?
| Decision | Gyre | OBS |
|---|---|---|
| Where the stream runs | Gyre says it streams uploaded prerecorded files from its servers, so your PC does not need to stay on. Gyre | The broadcast runs from your computer. You are responsible for keeping the computer and connection available; a comparison guide describes OBS as the local-PC route. Comparison guide |
| Day-to-day work | Upload media and configure a stream or playlist using the tools available on your plan. Gyre says its September 2026 update added channel authorization and API-created broadcasts; manual setup remains available. Gyre update | You operate the local streaming software and arrange for the computer, network, and recovery process to keep working. |
| Cost basis | A recurring service plan, with capacity and storage limits that depend on the plan. | OBS is software; the local route also uses your hardware, electricity, internet connection, and maintenance time. No total cost comparison is established here. |
| Capacity | Simultaneous streams, storage, and resolution depend on the current plan terms. | Capacity depends on the computer, encoding workload, connection, and configuration. No specific hardware requirement is established here. |
For a prepared cartoon library, the central trade-off is operational responsibility: pay for a cloud workflow that reduces reliance on a home PC, or keep control locally and manage the equipment and recovery yourself. A cloud service does not make a stream immune to interruption.
When does each option make sense?
Choose Gyre when you want cloud playout
Gyre is the more direct fit if the cartoons are already produced and you want a service to stream uploaded files without leaving a home computer running. Check the selected plan for the number of simultaneous streams, storage, resolution, and the setup method you intend to use.
Choose OBS when you want to operate the local setup
OBS is a reasonable route if you already have suitable equipment and are prepared to keep the computer and connection available and handle interruptions. The available comparison does not establish a minimum PC specification or a current OBS configuration guide, so do not treat a particular hardware model or setting as a verified requirement.

Plan for made-for-kids behavior
For made-for-kids livestreams, YouTube disables live chat and comments. Personalized ads are disabled, though contextual ads may appear. Do not build the format around live audience interaction or estimate revenue on the assumption that personalized ads or chat will be available. YouTube: Avoid restrictions on live streaming
Confirm rights to every part of the program
Calling a cartoon original does not by itself establish rights to everything in the broadcast. Make sure you own or control the relevant rights to the animation, music, sound effects, and other included audiovisual material. A streaming tool does not grant broadcast rights or make a channel eligible for monetization.

Test monetization on API-created broadcasts
Gyre’s September 2026 update says monetization on API-created streams depends on the creator’s YouTube Studio setting for monetization on third-party-created streams. This is a vendor statement, not a guarantee of revenue. Check the setting in your channel and test a scheduled broadcast before relying on monetization. Gyre update

- How many simultaneous streams do you need, and does the plan’s capacity cover them?
- How much cartoon footage will you keep uploaded, and what storage allowance applies?
- Do you prefer a recurring cloud-service fee or the responsibility of operating a local computer and connection?
- Have you verified the channel, checked for livestream restrictions, selected the appropriate made-for-kids setting, and cleared the rights for all included material?
- If you expect to use API-created broadcasts, have you checked the relevant YouTube Studio monetization setting and tested the workflow?
