Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Short answer: Inservers and CloudPe are two provider-listed Indian VPS options worth comparing for a MediaMTX-to-YouTube relay: Inservers advertises an entry plan from ₹880/month, while CloudPe lists a 4 GB RAM configuration at ₹930/month. These are published offers, not tested winners. Before choosing, verify the exact plan’s transfer or egress terms, server location, renewal cost and support—and test the route from that server to YouTube.
MediaMTX is the software that relays the stream; the VPS is the server that runs it. A continuous broadcast makes bandwidth terms and reliable operations more important than a headline port-speed figure.
India VPS shortlist: two plans to investigate
The provider pages below list prices and specifications, but the available evidence does not establish either provider’s sustained streaming performance, uptime or route quality to YouTube. Treat the details as starting points, confirm them at checkout, and test your actual workload before relying on a server for a continuous broadcast.
| Provider | Published offer | What the provider lists | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inservers | Starting at ₹880/month | Entry configuration: 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps unmetered uplink. | Exact region, fair-use conditions, taxes, renewal price and whether the plan’s sustained outbound capacity suits your stream. “Unmetered” and “1 Gbps” are provider claims, not proof of ongoing throughput or delivery quality. |
| CloudPe | ₹930/month listed monthly configuration | The page describes a 4 GB RAM configuration and infrastructure in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. | CPU, storage, transfer or egress allowance, taxes and the location attached to the exact plan. The published page details should be checked against the configuration you intend to buy. |
These prices and configurations are published by the providers; they may change. Compare the full recurring cost, including taxes, IP addresses, backups, storage, transfer and renewal terms—not just the advertised monthly figure.

What MediaMTX does in this setup
MediaMTX is media-server and proxy software. It can publish, read, route, record and play audio/video streams, and supports protocols including RTMP. A VPS hosts the software; it is not itself an encoder or a streaming service.
For YouTube delivery, MediaMTX forwards an incoming stream to YouTube using the current YouTube stream URL and stream key. Follow the MediaMTX forwarding instructions and obtain the endpoint and key from the authenticated YouTube live setup. YouTube’s ingest endpoint can change, so do not copy a URL from an old tutorial without checking it. Prefer RTMPS, which encrypts the connection in transit, when available.

Keep the stream key secret. Do not publish it in a sample configuration, screenshot, public repository or unprotected log. If it is exposed, replace it through YouTube’s live-stream settings.
Before configuring the relay
- Have an incoming stream to forward. MediaMTX relays media; it does not create a video programme from nothing. Your source must publish to MediaMTX in a supported format.
- Include audio and video. The MediaMTX documentation states: “YouTube requires streams to have both a video and an audio track. Video-only streams are silently rejected.” A silent soundtrack still needs to be an audio track if the source is otherwise video-only.
- Use the current destination details. Copy the YouTube stream URL and key from the account’s current live setup, then configure the forwarding destination according to MediaMTX’s current documentation.
- Know whether you are relaying or transcoding. Forwarding passes a supported stream along; it does not by itself resize, re-encode or repair media. If you need transcoding, filtering or a destination protocol not supported by the forwarding setup, the MediaMTX documentation describes using FFmpeg for that work.
- Check YouTube’s content rules. You remain responsible for the rights to the audio and video you send and for complying with YouTube’s current live-stream policies. A working relay does not grant permission to stream copyrighted material.
How to compare VPS plans for a continuous stream
1. Calculate transfer from bitrate and airtime
Outgoing traffic continues for as long as the stream runs. As a practical estimate, a stream at B megabits per second uses about B Ă— 0.45 GB per hour, before protocol overhead. At 4 Mbps, that is roughly 1.8 GB per hour, or about 1.3 TB over 30 days of uninterrupted streaming. Treat this as an estimate, not a provider billing figure; overhead and actual bitrate can vary.

Ask whether the plan includes enough monthly outbound transfer, charges for egress, applies fair-use limits or throttles sustained usage. For a 24/7 stream, monthly transfer can dominate the cost even when the VPS itself looks inexpensive.
2. Choose a region by network path, not audience alone
Consider the path from your stream source to the VPS and from the VPS to YouTube. An Indian server may shorten one leg of the connection, but the available evidence does not establish which listed provider has the best route to YouTube. Confirm the precise data-centre location and test latency, packet loss and sustained upload behavior from that region.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
3. Size the machine for what it actually does
A MediaMTX forwarding workload is different from transcoding. For straightforward relay, the stream’s network path is a central concern; running FFmpeg to transcode, handling several streams, recording to disk or hosting other services changes CPU, memory and storage requirements. Start with the intended workload, monitor resource use, and resize if measurements show a bottleneck rather than assuming that a larger VPS automatically improves delivery.
4. Compare operations and the complete bill
- Check support availability and how to recover after a reboot or network interruption.
- Review firewall controls, monitoring options and whether backups are needed for configuration or recordings.
- Compare the plan’s monthly price, taxes, transfer, storage, IPv4 or other add-ons, backup charges and renewal price on the same basis.
- Do not treat provider marketing statements as independent uptime or throughput measurements.
MediaMTX’s scalability guidance notes that when streaming without re-encoding, bottlenecks are often bandwidth between the server and readers. Its discussion of replicas and CDN trade-offs is relevant to larger delivery workloads; forwarding one stream to YouTube has a different traffic pattern from serving a large audience directly.

Do you need a GPU or a powerful VPS?
Not necessarily for a simple relay. MediaMTX is forwarding an incoming stream, not encoding it. The listed Inservers entry configuration has 2 vCores and 4 GB RAM; CloudPe’s cited monthly configuration describes 4 GB RAM, but its cited page information does not establish the full CPU specification. Neither listing is proof that a particular workload will run reliably.
If you add FFmpeg transcoding, filters, multiple concurrent inputs, local recording or other services, CPU, memory and disk needs rise according to the workload. A GPU is not established as necessary for MediaMTX forwarding alone; assess it only if your separate encoding workload and software support justify one.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the stream | Stale ingest URL, incorrect stream key, or a destination setting that does not match the current MediaMTX forwarding syntax. | Copy the current URL and key from YouTube’s live setup, check the MediaMTX forwarding documentation, and confirm the destination uses the intended RTMPS endpoint where available. |
| YouTube silently rejects the input | The outgoing stream has video but no audio track. | Inspect the source and forwarded stream to confirm both audio and video tracks are present. |
| Stream disconnects or stutters | Unstable source-to-server or server-to-YouTube path, transfer limits, packet loss, or resource pressure. | Check provider transfer and fair-use terms, monitor network and system resources, and test the route and sustained outbound behavior from the selected region. |
| Forwarded picture or sound is not as expected | Forwarding relays media; it does not automatically transcode, filter or fix a source. | Validate the incoming stream first. If conversion or filtering is required, configure a separate transcoding workflow such as FFmpeg and size the VPS for it. |
| Configuration or credentials are exposed | A real stream key was copied into a public config, screenshot, repository or log. | Replace the exposed key in YouTube and update the protected MediaMTX configuration. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded videos looping on a YouTube channel, rather than operate a MediaMTX relay yourself, StreamNeo is a managed alternative and ranks first for that 24/7 playback use case: it runs from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives one free day with no card.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo does not re-encode uploads, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and includes 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. The monthly price is $9.99 per month. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. This is for uploaded-video playback to YouTube, not a camera-based live production or a replacement for every MediaMTX workflow.
