Magazine Innovator Awards in New York on October 29, 2025, Stephen Colbert announced that Billie Eilish would donate $11.5 million from proceeds of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour. Eilish urged wealthy people to use their money for good and challenged billionaires to give some of it away. The Associated Press reported the announcement and remarks on October 31, 2025.
Why did Billie Eilish donate $11.5 million?
The sum was announced as coming from tour proceeds, with food equity, climate justice and reducing carbon pollution among the stated causes. That describes a donation tied to the tour—not an independently audited accounting of the funds or a claim that Eilish personally paid the entire amount from unrelated personal assets. The announcement was made at the awards ceremony by Stephen Colbert, according to the Associated Press.
What did Billie Eilish say to billionaires?
Eilish used her remarks at the ceremony to press wealthy people to direct money toward people who need it. The AP reported her words as: “I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.”
She also addressed billionaires directly: “And if you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? And no hate, but give your money away, shorties.”

How did the tour’s fundraising work?
A later official tour impact report, compiled by REVERB, gives a broader and later figure: $13.3 million raised for climate action and community organizations. The report attributes the total to three streams: the Global Changemaker Ticket Program, a $1-per-ticket Eco-fund, and REVERB’s #RockNRefill Program. The $13.3 million is not simply a revised estimate of the $11.5 million announced at the October 2025 awards event; the figures are reported in different contexts and scopes.
The Changemaker Program used proceeds from specially designated seats to support local groups in places where the tour played. The report says 160 nonprofits around the world received unrestricted, trust-based funding. In North America, REVERB strategized, vetted and stewarded Changemaker grants through its Climate Impact Fund. The report says those investments supported 102 nonprofit organizations and 19 climate projects. In Europe, Australia and Japan, it reports support for 26 grassroots organizations in 15 countries.

What outcomes does the later impact report describe?
The tour report also records food and waste-related outcomes: 7.7 million plant-based meal equivalents and more than 5 million pounds of food rescued from landfill. It reports that refill stations, reusable bottle offerings and backstage plastic-reduction efforts avoided 135,260 single-use bottles. Separately, REVERB’s #RockNRefill program with Nalgene raised $290,730 in North America, according to the report.
REVERB’s Climate Impact Fund page estimates that decarbonization projects and certified offsets reduced or avoided approximately 20,200 metric tons of CO₂e. REVERB limits that estimate to projects with measurable emissions data; it says other supported projects also have climate impact, but their emissions are not fully quantified. The estimate is therefore not a complete accounting of every program’s climate effects.

What did funding look like for a local organization?
TreeFolks, a Central Texas nonprofit, announced on January 12, 2026 that it received support through Eilish’s Changemaker Program, funded by North American tour proceeds and distributed via REVERB. The organization said it would use the funding to expand urban forestry, particularly in areas facing extreme heat, flooding and historic underinvestment. Its announcement offers one example of how tour-linked giving reached a local group; it does not establish a complete grant ledger or the amount received by every grantee.
