To correct a prerecorded video’s orientation in CameraFi Live, add it as a Video source, tap that source, and choose Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90°. Then check the broadcast preview. This source adjustment is separate from locking your phone’s screen to portrait or landscape.
Rotate the prerecorded video source
- Open your CameraFi Live session and swipe left to reveal the Video source controls.
- Tap + and choose the prerecorded video from your phone’s gallery. CameraFi Live supports video files as broadcast sources; its Android getting-started guide confirms this capability.
- Tap the video source you added. Choose Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90° until the picture is upright.
- If the image is mirrored, choose Reverse left and right. If it is upside down, choose Upside down. Use Reset to clear source rotation or reversal adjustments.
- Inspect the broadcast preview before going live. Check that the picture is upright and framed as intended; do not assume CameraFi Live will automatically crop or reframe every video to fit the output.
The rotation and reversal commands are documented in CameraFi Live’s Video source manual. Menu labels can vary by installed app version, so confirm them in your current build.
Set the phone’s screen orientation separately
Source rotation changes the prerecorded picture. The phone’s screen-rotation setting controls the device or app display orientation; changing it does not replace the source adjustment. CameraFi Live’s older update note lists Settings > Screen Rotation with Auto rotate, Landscape lock, Portrait lock, and Reverse landscape lock. The setting’s location may differ in a current version.
Choose the output orientation you want, lock the screen if needed, and verify the result in the preview. CameraFi Live’s older portrait-streaming guide discusses 9:16 output for a vertically mounted USB camera, but that does not establish automatic reframing behavior for every prerecorded video.

Test the YouTube broadcast before making it public
- Decide whether the broadcast should be portrait or landscape based on the video and the intended viewing layout.
- Lock screen rotation to the intended orientation if needed, then inspect the CameraFi Live preview for picture orientation and framing.
- Run an unlisted YouTube livestream and check the actual video and audio output. YouTube’s mobile livestream tips recommend choosing portrait or landscape in advance, locking screen rotation, checking internet speed, and testing with an unlisted stream.
- Adjust the source or screen setting and test again if the output is rotated, mirrored, poorly framed, or has an audio problem.
Use only video you have permission to broadcast
CameraFi Live’s FAQ says its overlay feature can broadcast prerecorded video and warns that using another person’s content may lead to copyright violations. Use material you own or are authorized to use, and follow YouTube’s applicable copyright and platform policies.
