Streamlabs Mobile YouTube Audio Out of Sync: How to Diagnose and Fix It

Find out whether the problem is a lip-sync mismatch, late playback, or missing audio—and use a focused test to locate the cause in Streamlabs Mobile or YouTube delivery.

First identify which problem you have: audio/video sync means the sound does not match the picture; stream latency means the whole live broadcast reaches viewers late. Streamlabs Mobile’s documented guidance does not establish a universal sync-offset setting or value. Start by checking the microphone and testing the outgoing feed, then use YouTube’s stream-health and network checks to locate a delivery problem.

Identify the problem before changing settings

“Out of sync” can describe several different symptoms, and each points to a different part of the broadcast path. Streamlabs describes delay as something that can build between the broadcaster’s app and the viewer; YouTube defines stream latency as the time between capture and playback. A late-arriving stream is not necessarily a lip-sync error.

What you notice What it suggests First check
Speech or other sounds consistently do not match mouth movements or actions An audio/video timing mismatch in the input, app, or outgoing feed Test the microphone and compare the feed with its YouTube replay
The picture and sound match, but both arrive well after the real event Stream latency or playback buffering Check YouTube’s stream health, viewer connection, and latency settings
Audio is missing, intermittent, or unusually quiet Mute state, input selection, microphone, or connection issue Check the selected input and test the phone’s built-in microphone
Only one viewer or device reports a problem A viewer-side network, app, or playback issue may be involved Compare playback on another device and network

Notice whether the mismatch is steady or grows over time, and whether it affects one viewer or several. Those details help distinguish an input or feed problem from a playback issue.

Check the microphone and input path

  1. Check mute and input selection. In Streamlabs Mobile, confirm the microphone is not muted and that the intended input is selected or being used as the default. If you are using an external mic, verify that the phone and app are actually receiving it.
  2. Make a short test with the built-in microphone. Keep the scene and speaking distance as consistent as practical, and compare the result with a test using your current external mic. If the built-in mic works normally but the external input does not, focus on the external mic, connection, or compatibility rather than changing unrelated stream settings.
  3. If you use Bluetooth, test without it. Streamlabs’ Mobile Streaming FAQ notes known issues with Bluetooth microphones and headphones. Repeat the same test using the phone’s built-in mic or a wired input. Streamlabs says 3.5 mm microphones should work, but that does not guarantee compatibility for every phone, adapter, or microphone.

Do not buy a replacement mic as the first step. The built-in-versus-external comparison can show whether the current input is implicated before you spend money.

Change mobile audio settings one at a time

Streamlabs’ mobile guide describes audio options including sample rate, volume, and external audio channels; its mobile-game guidance also discusses Bluetooth input and sample rate. The available guidance does not specify one setting or sync-offset value that corrects every phone and setup.

  1. Note the current audio settings before changing anything.
  2. Change only one relevant setting, such as the selected input or an audio option you understand.
  3. Repeat the same short test under similar conditions and compare the result.
  4. If the change does not help, restore the original setting before testing another one.

Avoid applying desktop Streamlabs or OBS instructions that tell you to enter a particular audio offset. The cited mobile guidance does not establish those desktop controls as Streamlabs Mobile settings.

Use a private or unlisted test to locate the fault

A controlled short broadcast helps determine whether the mismatch is already in the outgoing feed or appears later during YouTube delivery or playback. Keep the phone, scene, microphone, and network as steady as you can during the test.

  1. Start a short private or unlisted YouTube test rather than troubleshooting during an important public broadcast.
  2. Speak or make a clear sound while performing a visible action so you can compare sound and picture timing.
  3. Check the live preview and available stream-health information, then watch the replay on at least one other device.
  4. Ask another viewer to check from a different network if possible. Record whether the issue appears in the preview, replay, or only on a particular viewer’s device.

Streamlabs recommends reducing background load in its mobile guidance, and YouTube recommends testing streams and monitoring quality. Close unnecessary apps before repeating the test, especially if performance varies during a longer session.

If the outgoing feed itself is wrong

If the mismatch is present in the feed or replay on more than one device, concentrate on the phone and app path:

  • Recheck mic mute state and intended input selection.
  • Compare the built-in microphone with the current external input, and test without Bluetooth if it is in use.
  • Update Streamlabs, close unnecessary apps, and repeat a short test.
  • Change mobile audio settings one at a time, keeping a note of the original values and the result of each test.

If you contact Streamlabs support, include the phone model, operating system and version, Streamlabs version, connection type, input used, and whether the offset stays constant or grows. Those details make the symptom more actionable than “audio is out of sync.”

If the feed is healthy but YouTube playback is not

When the local or outgoing feed appears correct but YouTube playback does not, check the delivery and viewer side instead of repeatedly changing microphone settings.

  1. Review YouTube Live stream health and any reported errors. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends inspecting encoder output and stream health.
  2. If output appears healthy, test the outbound internet connection. YouTube’s guidance points to connectivity as a next check when the encoder output is healthy.
  3. Compare the stream on another viewer device or network. A problem limited to one playback setup may be on that viewer’s side.
  4. If picture and audio remain matched but both are late, consult YouTube’s latency guidance and live-stream settings. Latency choices affect how quickly viewers receive the event and involve buffering trade-offs; they are not documented as a lip-sync adjustment.

Or let it run in the cloud

Streamlabs Mobile is for broadcasting from your phone; a cloud loop is a different setup for keeping uploaded, pre-recorded videos live on YouTube. StreamNeo does not correct audio timing in a Streamlabs Mobile broadcast, and it does not go live from a camera. If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded recordings or a playlist, its process is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud continues the loop without a computer or home connection staying on.
