You can run a prerecorded video as a YouTube livestream with PRISM Live Studio on a low-cost Windows PC, but first check whether the computer meets PRISM’s published minimum. Keep the scene and output settings modest, confirm how your installed PRISM version handles repeat playback, and rehearse privately before relying on a public stream. If PRISM reports connection error 57998 in India, try its IPv4 network setting as a targeted fix.
Check whether your PC meets PRISM’s baseline
PRISM Live Studio’s current desktop guide lists these Windows specifications as its minimum: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), an Intel Core i3-9100 or higher, 8 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or equivalent. Its general-streaming recommendation is higher: a Core i5-8500, at least 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 2070 or equivalent. These are PRISM’s published specifications, not an independent performance test or a guarantee that a particular setup will stream reliably.

A mostly static video loop should involve less work than game capture with animations and overlays, but encoding still uses computer resources. PRISM warns that settings and the number of sources can cause problems even on a PC that meets its minimum. If your machine falls below that baseline, do not assume it will hold a long broadcast: first run a short private rehearsal and watch for stuttering, dropped frames, or the app closing.
PRISM Live Studio’s team warned on October 27, 2022 that on a low-spec PC the app could terminate abnormally, stutter, or repeatedly cut off the broadcast screen. Treat that dated warning as a reason to test your specific setup, not as a prediction that every older computer will fail.

Prepare a video source that can repeat
Try PRISM Media Source first
- Open PRISM and add a source using Sources > Add Source > Media Source.
- Select the local video file you want to play. Use a file at or below your planned broadcast resolution to avoid unnecessary downscaling.
- Check the source’s properties in the PRISM version installed on your PC for a repeat or loop control. The available PRISM instructions do not establish whether the current desktop version includes one, so verify it rather than assuming.
- Start playback and confirm that both picture and audio work. If you use Studio Mode, PRISM’s source guidance notes that media may not autoplay after it is added; use the source’s playback or restart controls as needed.
If there is no repeat control
As a workaround, play the file in a local media player configured to repeat, then capture that player window in PRISM. This is a practical fallback, not a tested PRISM recipe. It adds a running program and a capture source, so check CPU and GPU use during the rehearsal. Compare it with Media Source on the points that matter for your setup: whether it repeats reliably, whether playback resumes after stopping, and whether audio stays synchronized.
Large media files can use more CPU. PRISM says hardware decoding may reduce CPU work when you have a stronger GPU, though that shifts work to the GPU. If performance worsens, compare playback with hardware decoding enabled and disabled rather than assuming one setting suits every computer.

Use a lean scene and conservative output
Keep the scene simple
- Use one scene with the video and only the audio you need.
- Avoid browser widgets, multiple scenes, filters, animated overlays, and other resource-intensive additions on a constrained PC.
- Close demanding applications before broadcasting so they do not compete for processing resources.
Choose resolution, frame rate, and encoder
In PRISM’s Video settings, choose a conservative output resolution and frame rate. A starting point of 30 FPS is reasonable for a static loop, but it is not a tested guarantee for your PC. Higher resolution, frame rate, and bitrate can add workload to both the computer and the network; lower output demands if you see dropped frames or transmission delays.
In Settings > Output, switch to Advanced mode to expose streaming encoder controls. If your PC has a compatible dedicated NVIDIA or AMD GPU, PRISM recommends using its hardware encoder. If you must encode with x264 or x265 on the CPU, PRISM advises the veryfast preset because slower presets use more CPU.

Set bitrate to suit the chosen output and the upload capacity that is actually stable on your connection. Do not choose a high bitrate just because YouTube may accept it: the available guidance does not establish a guaranteed bitrate for this particular PC, resolution, or Indian internet connection. If the stream is unstable, reduce output demands and assess the connection separately.
Link YouTube and rehearse before going public
- Create and authenticate your YouTube channel before trying to select it in PRISM. PRISM says the channel must be created and authenticated before it appears in the app.
- Link your YouTube account in PRISM, then select the intended channel and confirm the destination.
- Enter the stream title, category, and visibility. Check that the visibility is appropriate for your rehearsal or intended broadcast.
- Use PRISM’s YouTube rehearsal function, where available, to inspect video, audio, and continuity before a public session.
- When ready, use Go Live in PRISM and confirm the stream information. Use Finish when you want to stop the broadcast.
Make sure the video and audio are yours to broadcast or that you have the necessary rights. A technically successful livestream does not establish permission to use copyrighted material. YouTube’s policies and decisions apply to the content and channel; do not treat a rehearsal or a successful connection as copyright clearance.

Fix PRISM’s YouTube connection error 57998 in India
Use this branch only if PRISM shows “Failed to connect to the server” with error 57998 while connecting to YouTube over RTMP. PRISM identifies a possible conflict between IPv6 transition policies and some ISP network infrastructure; it advises users in India and Indonesia to try IPv4-only mode. It is not a setting every Indian user needs to change.
- In PRISM, open Settings > Advanced > Network.
- Set IP Family to IPv4 Only.
- Enable network optimizations.
- Apply the settings and restart PRISM, then try connecting again.
Diagnose a stream that buffers, drops, or stops

Keep PC performance and network problems separate while troubleshooting: a more reliable local link will not fix an overloaded encoder, and lowering the resolution will not fix a rejected channel authorization. Change one relevant setting at a time and rehearse again so you can tell what helped.

Does a successful private rehearsal guarantee that a long stream will stay live?
No. It checks your setup under the rehearsal conditions; it cannot guarantee future PC or network stability.
Can I use any prerecorded music or documentary in the loop?
Only use content you own or have permission to stream. YouTube may apply its copyright and channel policies regardless of which streaming method you use.
