To watch a vMix YouTube playlist stream from another PC on the same local network, start vMix’s LiveLAN output and open its LiveLAN page in a browser on the second computer. Use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room separately to check what YouTube reports about the incoming stream’s health and status. LiveLAN shows the vMix program output; it is not a low-latency or frame-accurate monitor.
Choose the right kind of monitoring

For ordinary remote observation within a building or site, LiveLAN is the direct way to see the program output. Check Live Control Room as a second, complementary view when you need to know whether YouTube is receiving the stream normally.
Watch the vMix output from a second PC on your local network
- Confirm the playlist is part of the program output. In vMix, check that the List input is playing and that the intended playlist item is enabled and selected. A List input can use controls such as auto-next, loop and shuffle; these control playlist playback, not remote monitoring. vMix List input documentation
- Open Stream Settings in vMix. Choose LiveLAN as the stream destination, select an appropriate quality or bitrate for your local network, and start the stream. Use View Stream in the stream settings to see the address.
- Open the LiveLAN page on the second PC. Connect that PC to the same local network, then enter the displayed address in a supported browser. The documented URL pattern is
http://x.x.x.x:8088/livelan, wherex.x.x.xis the local network address of the vMix computer. Use the actual address shown by vMix rather than copying the example literally. vMix LiveLAN documentation - Check the picture and audio. Confirm that the browser is showing the expected program output and that the playlist advances or loops as intended. If you need to know whether YouTube also sees the stream, check Live Control Room separately.
Set bitrate and network expectations
LiveLAN uses HLS internally. vMix’s guidance is to plan for approximately the configured stream bitrate multiplied by the number of viewers, plus around 10–20% additional overhead. For example, a 2.5 Mbps LiveLAN stream for one viewer needs about 2.5 Mbps before overhead; the extra capacity is a planning allowance derived from vMix’s guidance, not a separate measured result. More viewers increase the bandwidth requirement. vMix LiveLAN documentation
Expect browser delay of around 10 seconds in typical use, according to vMix’s LiveLAN documentation. That makes LiveLAN useful for checking what the program is outputting, but unsuitable for frame-accurate confidence monitoring or judging a real-time event with minimal delay. Choose a bitrate your local network can sustain while allowing the documented overhead.

Check YouTube’s side of the stream
In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room for the active broadcast and review the incoming stream preview, health or status indicators, displayed errors, and real-time analytics. Those indicators describe what YouTube reports about the platform-side stream; a healthy local LiveLAN view alone does not establish that YouTube is receiving the stream without issues. Monitoring from outside the local network
vMix documents LiveLAN for local-network viewing. Its Web Controller also includes control functions such as switching, shortcuts, titles and tally, so remote access should be treated as access to a control surface, not merely a video page. LAN-only restriction is enabled by default in the documented setup. Do not expose the Web Controller directly to the public internet. For off-site access, ask your network administrator to provide a secure private network path and keep access restricted. Where an access exception is needed, vMix supports password protection and per-page access choices, and recommends configuring a password while making only the LiveLAN page available without a password. Confirm the precise controls in the version of vMix installed before changing access settings.
Troubleshoot a missing or incorrect LiveLAN view
- The browser page will not load: Confirm that LiveLAN is selected and running in Stream Settings, then use View Stream to retrieve the current address. Check that both PCs can reach one another on the local network, that the IP address belongs to the vMix computer, and that firewall rules permit the required local connection. Do not solve a local connectivity problem by opening broad public access.
- The page loads but shows the wrong content: Check that the intended List input is active in the program output and that the desired playlist item is enabled and playing. LiveLAN displays the resulting program output; it does not provide a separate remote playlist view or playlist-specific controls.
- The playlist does not advance or loop: Check the List input’s item and playback controls, including auto-next and loop, and confirm the intended items are enabled. vMix List input documentation
- Playback stutters or other network use suffers: Compare the configured LiveLAN bitrate and viewer count with available local-network capacity. Allow approximately 10–20% overhead above bitrate multiplied by viewers, as vMix advises; if capacity is constrained, try a lower appropriate LiveLAN quality or reduce the number of viewers.
- LiveLAN looks fine but YouTube reports a problem: Check the stream preview, health or status indicators, and displayed errors in Live Control Room. Local viewing and YouTube’s platform-side status answer different questions.
- Off-site monitoring is unavailable: Have the network administrator arrange a secure private path and verify the Web Controller’s authentication and page-access restrictions. Do not disable LAN-only safeguards or publish the controller openly as a workaround.

LiveLAN is for watching a vMix output on your local network.
