First identify where playback is controlled: vMix’s List input, vMix’s separate PlayList feature, or YouTube’s own player. Each has a different repeat control. In YouTube, turn off playlist Loop to stop the full playlist cycling; if the Loop icon shows “1,” it is the current video that is repeating. In vMix, check Loop on the specific List or PlayList feature in use.
Identify which playlist is repeating
The word “playlist” can refer to different things in this setup. Before changing a setting, determine whether vMix is playing local media through a List input, vMix is switching through inputs with its PlayList feature, or a YouTube video is playing in YouTube’s own playlist player.
- Same local clip repeats in vMix: inspect the relevant vMix List or PlayList, including its entries and Loop setting.
- The YouTube player restarts the current video: check for the single-video repeat state, shown by a “1” inside the Loop icon.
- The YouTube playlist starts over after its last video: switch off playlist Loop.
- A different related video starts: check YouTube Autoplay; it is not the same as repeating the current video.
Stop a vMix List input from looping
Use this branch when vMix is playing a list of media files through a List input. The official vMix version 26 List documentation describes Loop as starting the list from the beginning when it reaches the end.
- Open the List input’s editing controls.
- Check the List’s Loop setting. Turn it off if the list should stop when it reaches its last entry.
- Inspect the entries and their enabled status. Confirm the same file is not listed more than once and that another intended entry has not been disabled.
- Check whether the List contains only that one video. A one-item list will appear to repeat if it is set to loop.
- Retest from the beginning of the list and observe whether playback advances to the next enabled entry or returns to the first.
vMix documents Auto Next as enabled by default; it controls automatic movement to the next entry. Randomise shuffles the order, so disable or account for it when checking whether the sequence is playing as expected. See the vMix version 26 List documentation.

Stop the vMix PlayList from restarting
Use vMix’s separate PlayList feature when it is switching across inputs rather than playing files from a List input. The official version 23 documentation defines Loop as “Start PlayList from the beginning again when completed.”
- Open the PlayList window using the cog button next to PlayList.
- Review the ordered inputs and confirm that the same input is not present more than once.
- Turn off Loop if the sequence should stop after its final input.
- If an item appears to restart before the sequence ends, inspect that item’s starting position and duration, and check its transition and transition duration.
- Run the sequence from its beginning and note whether the same input restarts mid-sequence or the full PlayList begins again at the end.
See the vMix version 23 PlayList documentation for the feature’s controls.

Stop a YouTube playlist or video from repeating
These controls apply when playback is in YouTube’s player, not when vMix is playing local files or switching between inputs.
Turn off repeat for the entire playlist
- While a playlist video is playing, expand the playlist box. On desktop, YouTube places the control beside the video in that expanded box.
- Switch off the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube Help says, “The playlist will repeat continuously” when this control is on.
- Let the current playlist reach its end to verify that it no longer starts over.
Turn off repeat for the current video only
If the Loop icon has a 1 in its center, YouTube is repeating just the current video. Use the Loop control again to leave that single-video repeat state. YouTube’s layout can differ across devices, so look for the repeat control in the playlist player rather than assuming the desktop arrangement applies on a phone, TV, or console. See YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.

Distinguish Autoplay from repeat
YouTube Autoplay plays another related video after a video ends. That differs from restarting the current video or looping the full playlist. If an unexpected different video begins, check the Autoplay setting on the device you are using; YouTube notes that the setting can differ by device. See YouTube Help: Autoplay videos.
Retest by following the symptom
- Start playback from the beginning of the relevant List, PlayList, or YouTube playlist.
- Watch for the specific behavior: the same file or input appears twice, one item restarts before the sequence advances, the whole sequence begins again at its end, or a different related video starts.
- Match that behavior to the source and control above. If it persists, check the entries and their order again, then confirm that you changed the control in the player or vMix feature actually handling playback.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube live stream rather than troubleshoot local playback, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not go live from a camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
