Best OBS Settings for a Continuous YouTube Devotional Stream on a Budget PC in India

A practical OBS baseline for a YouTube devotional stream on a budget PC: 720p30, stable bitrate, audio and network checks, archive limits, copyright precautions, and a cloud alternative.

Start with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264 video using CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC audio. Choose a bitrate your PC can encode steadily and your actual upload connection can sustain, leaving about 20% upload headroom. For a mostly static devotional visual, this is a practical baseline—not a guarantee that a budget PC or internet connection will run continuously without interruption.

Recommended OBS profile for a budget PC

Use this as a first configuration, then test the complete scene on the same PC and network you plan to use. YouTube’s published bitrate ranges are guidance, not a promise that a connection can sustain the top of the range.

Setting Starting value
Output resolution 1280Ă—720
Frame rate 30 fps
Video encoder H.264
Rate control CBR
Keyframe interval 2 seconds
Audio Stereo AAC; YouTube lists 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps for stereo audio
Video bitrate Choose within YouTube’s 3–8 Mbps H.264 range for 720p30, subject to measured stable upload and PC performance
Ingest protocol RTMPS recommended by YouTube

Thirty frames per second is a sensible initial choice for a largely static devotional program: it uses less encoding and upload capacity than 60 fps, which may add little for a still image or slow visual. This is a practical recommendation, not a specific OBS or YouTube prescription for devotional streams. If movement looks poor and the PC has capacity to spare, compare 60 fps in a private test.

Lower-load fallback

If encoding, rendering, or network stability is poor, try 480p30 and reduce the bitrate accordingly. YouTube’s published H.264 range for 480p30 is 0.4–4 Mbps. A lower resolution that stays stable is preferable to a higher bitrate or frame rate that repeatedly drops frames.

Set up OBS and YouTube, then test the whole stream

  1. Enable live streaming on the channel. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the stream and retrieve its stream key. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your stream.
  2. Run OBS’s starting-point wizard. Open Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard and follow its prompts. Treat its result as a starting point: OBS warns that a compatible system does not necessarily have the capacity to stream or record.
  3. Configure output and audio. In OBS, open Settings → Output and select an H.264 encoder, CBR, a bitrate supported by both your upload and YouTube’s guidance, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set stereo AAC audio; YouTube lists 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps for stereo.
  4. Set canvas and output video. Open Settings → Video, use 1280×720 output and 30 fps as the baseline, and simplify the scene if the PC struggles. Remove browser sources, animations, and unnecessarily large assets before adding more load.
  5. Connect OBS to YouTube. Use OBS’s stream configuration to connect the channel or enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Prefer RTMPS, which YouTube recommends and which encrypts the feed in transit to Google’s servers.
  6. Check upload capacity from the stream PC. Run a speed test on the actual connection, focusing on upload. YouTube recommends about 20% bandwidth headroom. Select a bitrate below the stable capacity available to OBS, not simply the maximum advertised by the internet plan. Shared Wi-Fi and household uploads can reduce available capacity; a wired connection and pausing competing uploads can help, but cannot guarantee stability.
  7. Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Use the intended devotional visual and audio. Check the YouTube preview and stream-health messages, audio level and synchronization, and playback on another device. Watch OBS for dropped frames and encoding or rendering lag.
  8. Adjust based on what fails. If OBS reports encoding or rendering lag, reduce output resolution or scene complexity first. If frames drop because of connection instability, lower bitrate and investigate the network. A supported hardware encoder can help if it is available and stable on the PC; otherwise, try the software encoder at a reduced resolution with a less demanding scene.

Test at the time of day the real broadcast will run if possible: available upload can change as other people and devices use the connection. A speed test and rehearsal describe conditions at the time of testing, not a guarantee of future performance.

Plan for interruptions and YouTube archives

OBS sends a feed only while the PC, power, network, and YouTube ingest remain operational. The official OBS and YouTube guidance does not promise uninterrupted operation for an unspecified budget PC. During a broadcast, check OBS’s dropped-frame and encoding/rendering indicators and YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health. A UPS may help bridge brief power interruptions if power loss is a concern, but it is not a guarantee; size it for the connected PC and router load and the runtime you need.

Do not assume a 24-hour YouTube session will create a complete replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, plan segments under 12 hours and separately make a local recording, checking that the recording is being written and that the storage drive has room. YouTube recommends recording a local archive as a backup.

Use devotional audio only when you have the necessary rights

Religious or devotional content is not automatically free to broadcast. Use an original performance or material for which the channel has the necessary rights. YouTube’s livestream terms require providers to have rights for live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content; a stream can be interrupted or terminated if identified material remains.

Even if you have a license, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruption. Before going live, keep permission records and confirm that the license covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and archived playback.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want the channel to keep playing uploaded devotional videos without leaving a home PC on, StreamNeo runs a YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
