The loop repeats the file; it does not keep Windows, OBS, power, or your internet connection running. A genuine 24/7 broadcast needs those parts to remain available and a plan for failures.
Before you configure OBS
Make sure your YouTube channel is eligible to stream using an encoder. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this well before the planned start.
The instructions below apply to OBS Studio on Windows and use YouTube’s general encoder guidance. YouTube does not specify a special OBS profile for India; measure the upload capacity available to your PC and test it under the conditions in which you intend to broadcast.
Choose how the lessons will play

For a single lesson, Media Source is the simpler setup. For several lessons, use VLC Video and verify the order, transitions, and audio by watching a full playlist cycle before relying on it.

Configure OBS and YouTube step by step
1. Add the recorded lesson to a scene
- Open OBS Studio and select or create the scene you want to use.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Choose the recorded lesson file. OBS supports common local video formats, including MP4.
- In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop so playback restarts when the file ends.
- Leave Restart playback when source becomes active enabled if the lesson should start from its beginning whenever the source becomes active. It is enabled by default.
- Check the OBS preview: confirm the picture is framed correctly and the lesson audio is audible.
For a playlist instead, add a VLC Video source, select the lesson files in the intended sequence, and check Loop Playlist. Install VLC first; match its architecture to OBS (64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC).
2. Create or select an encoder stream in YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or choose an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube or the appropriate RTMPS option when available, and enter the server URL and stream key. Save the settings.
Treat the stream key like a password: it tells YouTube where to accept the encoder feed. Do not show it in a public screen capture, stream, or shared setup guide. If you believe it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.

3. Set a conservative video and audio profile
Choose the output resolution and bitrate based on the PC’s sustained upload capacity, not just the video file’s resolution. YouTube’s encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, lists these H.264 1080p30 values:

These are YouTube’s platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular PC or Indian internet connection can sustain a chosen bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. For example, a 5 Mbps stream calls for at least 6.25 Mbps of consistently available upload capacity under that rule; shared or fluctuating capacity makes a lower bitrate and a real test prudent. Do not treat a speed test’s brief peak as proof of all-day stability.

For ordinary recorded lessons, SDR is the straightforward choice. Use HDR only if the source video, hardware encoder, and entire workflow support it; otherwise keep the configuration simple.
4. Preview and test before the public broadcast
- Start the encoder from OBS and check the preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room before starting the public stream.
- Use representative lesson footage with motion and spoken audio, not only a static title slide.
- Listen for embedded audio, inspect the picture, and confirm the intended audience can see the stream.
- Let the file reach its end and verify that it starts again as expected. For a playlist, check that the next file plays and that the playlist eventually loops.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and continue monitoring audio and video while live. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream.
What it takes to keep a stream running 24/7
OBS’s Loop setting repeats lesson playback; it is not a recovery system. If Windows sleeps or restarts, OBS crashes, power fails, or the connection drops, the loop alone cannot restore the broadcast. YouTube’s general guidance recommends upload headroom and monitoring, but that does not prevent every outage.

For a self-managed Windows setup, plan for reliable power and internet, prevent the computer from sleeping using Windows settings appropriate to your installation, and decide how you will notice and recover from OBS or system failure. The cited OBS and YouTube guidance does not establish a Windows-specific configuration that guarantees automatic restart or uninterrupted operation. Test a long run and treat unattended availability as something to validate, not as an effect of enabling Loop.

A lesson recording that contains third-party material may still trigger a copyright claim or other YouTube action. Keep permission records where relevant, and review YouTube’s current live-stream and copyright requirements before going live.
