For a straightforward setup, play a local playlist through an encoder such as OBS and send that feed to a YouTube Live event. YouTube handles the broadcast; the encoder or playout service handles the rotation. If you want the stream to continue without leaving a computer on, use cloud playout instead.

Choose how you want to run the playlist

Method Best fit Main trade-off
StreamNeo Unattended YouTube playout from uploaded videos, managed in the cloud. Requires uploading your files and an active slot.
Local software encoder such as OBS Operators who want to manage playback on their own computer. The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available.
Cloud playout such as Gyre Continuous prerecorded streaming without relying on a home computer. Check current service terms, compatibility, and cost with the provider.
AJA HELO Plus hardware Operators who want an appliance to schedule prerecorded playback directly to YouTube Live. Requires dedicated hardware; confirm current availability and cost with the vendor.

StreamNeo is the first option to consider for a hands-off YouTube loop: it runs continuously from the cloud, supports uploaded video at up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. The other listed options are identified in YouTube’s verified encoder directory.

Set up a local playlist with an encoder

This route gives you direct control over playback, but you must keep the computer and network running. Exact playlist-source labels vary by encoder and version; the sequence below describes YouTube’s documented connection workflow rather than a click-by-click OBS tutorial.

  1. Enable YouTube Live. If the channel has not streamed before, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream or schedule one for later. Scheduling can provide a shareable event page and viewer reminders.
  3. Build the video sequence in the encoder. Add the relaxation videos as a playlist or other supported playback source. Check that the order is correct and that picture and audio continue cleanly when one clip ends and the next begins.
  4. Connect the encoder to YouTube. Copy the event’s server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
  5. Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the feed to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room and inspect the picture and sound. For a scheduled event, YouTube’s workflow calls for selecting Go live after the preview appears.
  6. Monitor long sessions. Watch for playlist stops, encoder errors, network interruptions, and YouTube stream-health warnings. A local setup depends on the playback process and internet connection staying available.

YouTube documents connecting an encoder with a server URL and stream key in its encoder setup instructions. Configure video resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframes to match your source and encoder’s supported settings; the cited YouTube workflow does not establish one universal set of values for every relaxation video, connection, or encoder.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Uploaded quality is retained up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers.

Plan for duration, archives, and interruptions

Continuous viewing is not the same as a saved replay

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be archived automatically; plan a separate recording or archive workflow if you need a replay. YouTube’s API documentation also distinguishes a broadcast, the watchable event, from a stream, the transmission feed and settings. It describes recurring and 24/7 use cases, and says one stream resource can be bound to up to three live broadcasts. See Google’s guide to broadcasts and streams.

Check rights before you loop

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image, issue a warning, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check the YouTube guidance on copyright issues with live streams and secure any required permissions before broadcasting.

Do not assume repetition qualifies for monetization

YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. Monetized content should be original and authentic, not mass-produced, generic, or highly repetitive. Repeating a small set of visuals or audio does not by itself establish eligibility, even when you own or have licensed the material; review can consider the channel as a whole. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot a relaxation stream

  • The event is not available to stream: confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours as YouTube advises.
  • YouTube receives no video: check that the encoder is running, the correct server URL and stream key are entered, and the event preview is receiving a feed.
  • The stream stops between clips: inspect the playlist behavior and playback source at clip boundaries; confirm the next item starts rather than leaving the encoder without video.
  • Picture or audio breaks up: check encoder and network status, then review YouTube’s stream-health indicators and the encoder’s configured output settings.
  • YouTube interrupts the broadcast over content: identify the matched material and resolve the rights issue. If the content is licensed, ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting; a license may not be enough to prevent interruption.
  • No replay appears afterward: check the stream duration. YouTube’s automatic-archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, not longer broadcasts.

Keep the channel useful, not merely continuous

A continuous feed solves the scheduling problem, but it does not establish that viewers will find the programming distinctive or that the channel will qualify for monetization. Curate a coherent sequence, make sure you have rights to every video and audio track, and consider whether the channel adds original value beyond repeating the same material. For a relaxation channel, a dependable rotation is only one part of publishing responsibly.
