To stream an animated fireplace continuously on YouTube Live, loop a video you own or are licensed to broadcast in OBS Studio, send OBS’s output to a YouTube encoder stream, and monitor the feed in Live Control Room. You’ll need an eligible channel, a reliable upload connection, and rights to both the visuals and audio. For a computer-free option, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud.
Before you start
- A fireplace video and audio you can broadcast. Clear rights to both. Permission to use the visuals does not automatically cover music, crackling effects, or other audio.
- OBS Studio installed on a computer that can remain on and connected throughout the broadcast. If you use OBS’s VLC Video source for a playlist, VLC must also be installed.
- YouTube Live access. YouTube’s published eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. Check access in the account you plan to use before preparing the stream. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
- A stable internet connection. The upload connection must sustain the encoder’s outgoing stream. Choose bitrate and resolution to fit both your source and the connection rather than assuming a fireplace’s slow motion makes the stream effortless.
If this is the channel’s first live stream, enabling live streaming may take up to 24 hours. Allow for that delay before a planned broadcast. YouTube Help describes first-time enablement.
Set up YouTube Live and protect the stream key
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or schedule a stream using an encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into OBS’s streaming settings. The key authorizes OBS to send its feed, so treat it as a password: do not publish it, show it on screen, or send it to anyone who does not need access.
- If the key is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the saved key in OBS before streaming again. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Manage live stream settings.
Loop the fireplace video in OBS
For one video file
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene you’ll stream.
- Select the local fireplace video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties so playback restarts when the file ends.
- Arrange and size the source in the preview. If the video includes audio, check its level in OBS’s audio mixer; mute it only if you do not intend to broadcast that audio.
For a playlist
Add a VLC Video source and select the files for the playlist, then enable Loop Playlist. VLC is required for this source. OBS documents both Media Source and VLC Video for Windows, macOS, and Linux. OBS media-source documentation.
Choose encoder settings and connect
In OBS’s streaming settings, use the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio and select RTMPS if available. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of four seconds. It lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for video; AAC or MP3 for audio; and Rec. 709 color space for SDR. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate according to the source and the capacity of the connection. There is no single bitrate that fits every broadcast. A static image or gentle animation may appear undemanding, but test the actual file and connection: encoding, network stability, and long-run reliability still matter.
- Start the encoder stream from OBS.
- Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room before making the broadcast public.
- Play through the end of the file and into its loop, checking that the picture, transition, and audio behave as intended.
- Watch Live Control Room’s stream-health messages during the broadcast. YouTube transcodes the incoming feed for viewers on different devices and network conditions; your source settings determine what you send to YouTube, not the exact playback quality every viewer receives. YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Plan for interruptions and archives
A local OBS broadcast depends on the computer, encoder, power, and network staying available. Decide how you will notice and recover from an outage before leaving the stream unattended: a power loss, OBS crash, or broken connection can stop the feed. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If keeping an archive matters, plan manageable sessions and confirm the current archive behavior in Studio rather than assuming a single continuous stream will be preserved. Copyright and monetization are separate checks
You need the necessary broadcast rights for every part of the stream, including the animated fireplace and any music or ambient effects. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; unresolved matches can lead to temporary interruption or termination. A license does not guarantee uninterrupted playback: a rights owner may need to allowlist the channel. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and its Terms of Service set out relevant responsibilities.
Copyright permission also does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams, and repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Reused-content review is separate from copyright and considers whether a creator adds meaningful original commentary, substantial modification, educational value, or entertainment value. A channel built from interchangeable loops may face policy review even when the assets are licensed. Do not count on a fireplace loop qualifying for monetization. Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | Live streaming is not enabled yet, or the channel does not meet eligibility requirements. | Check live access in the intended channel and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement. Review YouTube’s eligibility guidance before the planned start. |
| YouTube receives no feed | The stream URL or key in OBS is wrong, or the key was reset. | Compare OBS’s saved values with the current encoder stream in Studio. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS. |
| The video stops at the end | Loop is off, or the playlist is not set to repeat. | Open the OBS source properties and enable Loop for Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video; test through the transition. |
| Playback stutters or stream health degrades | The outgoing bitrate may exceed reliable upload capacity, or the computer or connection may be struggling. | Check Live Control Room’s stream-health messages, then reduce bitrate or resolution and test again. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, staying within YouTube’s four-second maximum. |
| The live feed is interrupted after a content match | YouTube detected third-party video or audio; the rights owner may not have allowlisted the channel. | Review the match and rights status, remove or replace uncleared material, and contact the rights owner about allowlisting if you have permission. Do not assume a license alone prevents automated interruption. |
| The broadcast ends after a local outage | OBS, the computer, power, or network stopped sending the feed. | Restore the affected equipment or connection, restart the encoder stream, and monitor the new feed in Live Control Room. For unattended use, decide in advance who or what will detect and recover from interruptions. |
