To run cooking videos as a continuous YouTube live stream, prepare a playlist of videos you have permission to broadcast, create a stream in YouTube Studio, and send the playlist to it through an encoder. A local encoder such as OBS requires a powered computer and stable internet connection for the whole broadcast; a cloud service can keep the feed running without your computer. Test the video, audio, playlist transitions, and stream health before relying on the stream unattended.
What a continuous cooking-video stream is
YouTube receives a live feed from an encoder. The feed can show prerecorded cooking videos in sequence, so the broadcast is live as a YouTube transmission even though the source footage was recorded earlier. The encoder may run on your computer, on supported hardware, or in the cloud. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder to Live Control Room.
A continuous stream is not a substitute for permission to use the footage or music. YouTube says live-stream content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Use only material you own or are authorized to broadcast, and do not assume that a 24/7 format guarantees discovery, views, or monetization.
Check channel eligibility before preparing the broadcast
- Your channel must be verified, and it must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- You must be at least 16 to livestream on YouTube.
- First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Enable it well before the time you plan to launch.
These requirements and activation timing are stated in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance. Check the current Help page if your account’s access or status is unclear.

YouTube’s verified encoder list includes cloud providers such as Upstream and Gyre as well as hardware options. Verify current features, pricing, monitoring, and partner-program status with any provider before choosing it; availability and terms can change.
Prepare the cooking-video playlist
- Confirm broadcast rights. Check the rights for every video, soundtrack, image, and other element in the program. Permission to upload a video does not necessarily include permission to broadcast its music or third-party footage.
- Set the order and pacing. Put the episodes or segments in the sequence viewers should encounter them. Consider whether repeated introductions, end cards, or long gaps will make sense when the playlist loops.
- Check each file. Confirm that picture and audio are present, that there are no unwanted blank sections, and that the files play through. Keep resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, and audio format consistent where practical. These are practical file-preparation checks, not a YouTube guarantee.
- Review transitions. Play the playlist in order and watch every change from one video to the next. Check for abrupt silence, black frames, mismatched levels, or an unexpected pause, especially at the end-to-start loop.
A vendor workflow guide recommends checking the full playlist cycle and keeping media formats consistent; treat that as practical guidance rather than platform policy or proof of a particular service’s performance.

Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, create a stream or schedule one for later.
- Enter an accurate title and description, choose the audience setting, and add a thumbnail. Make clear that the stream features prerecorded cooking videos if that helps set viewer expectations.
- Copy the stream URL and private stream key shown by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel. Do not post it publicly or include it in a screenshot.

Set up a local encoder and go live
- In your encoder, select YouTube or a custom RTMP/RTMPS destination, as the software supports.
- Paste the stream URL and private stream key from Live Control Room into the corresponding server and key fields. Keep the key private.
- Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to match both the source material and a sustainable upload connection. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance; it recommends a keyframe frequency of 2 seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure extension of RTMP, where supported.
- Load the cooking playlist or configure the encoder to play the files in sequence and repeat them. Exact controls vary by encoder; confirm that looping is enabled rather than assuming the last file will restart automatically.
- Start the encoder. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and check that YouTube is receiving both picture and sound. For a scheduled broadcast, select Go live once the preview is ready.
- Test with representative motion and audio before launching to viewers. After launch, check stream health and confirm playback from the YouTube watch page.
The computer and connection running a local encoder are part of the broadcast system. Sleep mode, a restart, power loss, or an internet interruption can break the feed. Configure the machine to stay awake and monitor it if you choose this approach.

Plan for YouTube’s stream archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you need an automatic archive, plan shorter sessions and end and restart the stream rather than assuming a longer uninterrupted broadcast will produce one complete recording. Verify YouTube’s current behavior before depending on an archive for a long session.

Can I use cooking videos I found online?
Only if you have the rights or permission to broadcast them. The same check applies to music and other third-party material in the videos.

No guarantee is established. Monetization depends on YouTube Partner Program eligibility and applicable policies; a continuous format alone does not establish eligibility.
