Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallWindows Task Scheduler can launch your configured streaming application at a chosen time, but it does not create a YouTube livestream or guarantee that a playlist will play, loop, connect, and go live unattended. The reliable workflow is to prepare the YouTube event, configure and test your media player and encoder, schedule the application launch, then rehearse the entire chain on the PC and internet connection you intend to use.
What Task Scheduler can—and cannot—do
Task Scheduler runs a task after a trigger, such as a specific time or a recurring daily schedule. Microsoft describes it as enabling routine tasks to run automatically on a chosen computer. It can launch an application; it does not itself configure a playlist, route audio and video into an encoder, connect to YouTube, or press YouTube’s Go live control. See Microsoft’s Task Scheduler overview and Task Scheduler examples.
The exact unattended behavior depends on the media player and encoder you choose. Verify whether the player starts the playlist and loops it, whether the encoder receives that playback, whether the encoder connects automatically, and whether the scheduled YouTube event actually starts without a manual action. The sources cited here do not verify an application-specific setup that completes all of those steps automatically.
1. Prepare and schedule the YouTube event
- Open YouTube Studio, select Go Live, then open the Manage tab and create or schedule a stream.
- Set the title, visibility, and other event details, then save. A scheduled stream can be shared in advance; YouTube may offer viewers an upcoming-stream reminder.
- If this is your first time enabling live streaming, allow for YouTube’s stated activation delay of up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live stream settings guide.
2. Configure the playlist and encoder
- Choose a media player and encoder, then confirm their documentation supports the workflow you need: playing and looping your files, routing both audio and video to the encoder, and launching in the Windows session available when the task runs.
- In the encoder’s stream settings, enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password; do not expose it in screenshots, shared task details, or public posts. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.”
- Set the media source to the intended playlist and verify that playback produces both picture and sound in the encoder. Do not assume that opening the encoder starts the playlist, or that opening the playlist connects the encoder.
- Choose an encoder quality that fits the content and available upload connection. YouTube’s guidance covers RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate, codec, frame rate, keyframes, and audio settings. There is no single bitrate suitable for every resolution and frame rate; follow the relevant values in YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance, then test on the actual connection.
3. Create the Windows scheduled task
- Open Windows Task Scheduler and create a task with a time-based trigger for the desired start. Choose a one-time or recurring schedule to suit the event.
- Add an action to Start a program and select the configured streaming application. Microsoft documents scheduled executable launches, but the material cited here does not provide tested command-line arguments for a particular playlist player or encoder. Do not add guessed arguments.
- Choose the account and run conditions required by the chosen application and media source. Whether an encoder works without an interactive logged-in desktop is application-specific; verify its documentation and test that exact setting.
- Save the task and inspect its displayed next run time. For a channel operated from India, confirm that Windows is set to the intended local time zone and that the trigger shown is the time you mean. The cited Microsoft material does not establish a special India-only Task Scheduler rule.
4. Decide whether the PC should sleep
If the computer is asleep at the trigger time, Task Scheduler has a wake option, but the result depends on Windows power settings, firmware, and hardware support. A Microsoft Q&A response also points to the Windows power setting Allow wake timers; treat this as guidance to test rather than a guarantee for every PC. See the Microsoft Q&A discussion of scheduled wake-up.

Before relying on wake-up, schedule a near-future test on the actual machine. Confirm that it wakes, the task starts, the player can access the media, and the encoder connects. If your setup requires a logged-in desktop, test the same sign-in and sleep conditions you plan to use for the real stream.
5. Rehearse the whole chain before the event
- Run the scheduled task at a convenient test time and observe the complete chain: PC wake if needed, application launch, playlist playback, audio and video routing, encoder connection, and YouTube event status.
- Use a private or unlisted rehearsal where appropriate. In YouTube Live Control Room, check the preview for both audio and video before relying on the event’s scheduled start behavior.
- YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before. Check that the event is accessible and monitor stream health during the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Test with audio and movement similar to the real stream, and verify that the chosen quality remains stable on the connection you will use.
Common failures and what to check
- The task ran, but no stream appeared: Task success only confirms the scheduled action ran. Check whether the encoder connected to YouTube, whether the correct scheduled event and stream key are selected, and whether the Live Control Room preview shows an incoming signal.
- The stream has video but no sound, or the reverse: Check the playlist player’s output and the encoder’s selected audio and video sources. Confirm both in the preview before the event.
- The app opens but playback does not start or loop: Check the player’s own playlist and repeat settings and its launch behavior. The scheduled application launch alone does not establish either behavior.
- The PC did not wake: Check whether wake timers are allowed and whether the PC’s firmware and hardware support wake-up from the selected sleep state; repeat a near-future test.
- The task starts at the wrong time: Check Windows’ time-zone setting and the task’s displayed next run time, then adjust and test the trigger.
- The scheduled task works only when you are signed in: Check the chosen application’s requirements for an interactive user session and the task’s run context. Do not assume one run setting works for every encoder.
- YouTube receives an unstable or poor-quality stream: Recheck the encoder settings against YouTube’s guidance and the upload capacity available at the streaming location. Test the actual resolution, frame rate, audio, and motion rather than choosing a bitrate by guesswork.
Keep the playlist eligible for YouTube
Scheduling and encoding do not grant rights to the videos or music in a playlist. Use material you own or are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules before broadcasting. A successful technical setup does not guarantee that a stream will remain available if its content violates platform rules.
